This hotel was perfectly situated for our three days in Venice. It is located in a very quiet piazza, but less than ten minutes from St. Mark's Square - and even less to the vaporetto stop. In addition we enjoyed the friendliness and helpfulness of staff, a good breakfast, and a room that was clean, spacious and very nicely furnished....

I booked this hotel because the reviews were good but mostly because it was described as easy to find, and a lot of hotels in Venice are not. It is literally 10 minutes from the San Zaccaria vaparetto stop, which is about a 5 minute walk to St. Mark's square. We arrived in the late afternoon and found the hotel...

Casa Querini is actually a pretty good hotel. Its a bit confusing to get to and the way to get there takes you through some dark alleys, but once you understand Venice, you realize that theres a lot of seemingly creepy back streets and "alleys" which are not all that creepy once you're used to them. For its location its...

Tucked off a back alley a block and a half from St Mark's Square you will find this gem of a hotel. Upon our arrival we were greeted with the bubbly hotel manager. She helped us get our bags into the room and gave us the complete rundown of the area and the hotel (wifi, close restaurants, hours, etc). The...

This hotel was perfect for our visit to Venice. Located on a very quiet square, yet only five minutes walk from St. Mark's, ten minutes to Rialto bridge. And very convenient to the Vaporetto/Alilaguna stop at San Zaccaria. A fantastic location from which to base walking tours of the important sites, yet seemingly far from the crowds. The room was...

Casa Querini is a place that relies on its super friendly staff to make this place special. I was welcomed by Federica who i felt was genuinely interesting and interested. I had a first floor good sized room overlooking the piazza of San Giovanni al Nouvo and had a king sized bed and coffee making facilities. Place was clean and...

This accommodation offers 6 small but comfortable rooms that are clean and have a fridge and AC. The fridge did not work in our room but the air conditioning was fine and the windows opened onto a quiet piazza. The location is just minutes from shops, good restaurants and St. Mark's Square while being just far enough away to be...

Stayed here 3 nights while in Venice. Lovely, out of the way, but close to everything hotel. Staff very nice, rooms small, but "cozy" with decent size bathroom. Tucked away about 4 blocks from the Canal Zaccharia on a tiny square. Nice breakfast of croissant, roll, cold cereals, yogurt, fruit, hard boiled eggs and real cappucino. They have a lovely...

Stayed again at Casa Querini this September. Location is good and reasonably priced. It's a converted palace in a small square behind St Marks Square. Facilities are limited with just a very cramped area for breakfast - it is ok if you are able to eat outside. Would be nice to see the hotel offer a bit more.

The hospitality at this hotel was top notch. They fed us an impressive breakfast each morning at no additional cost. The location was excellent and tucked away in a small piazza but a few turns down some narrow streets are you were right in with all the hustle and bustle. Comfortable rooms.

Thank Doug M

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
