We spent 4 nights at the hotel. Caterina communicated well before our visit and gave good directions from boat to hotel. The hotel is ideally situated for visiting all the wonderful sights in Venice and the location is peacefully quiet. Our room was comfortable and well decorated in keeping with the Venetian atmosphere. We enjoyed a substantial breakfast and were...

Traditional B&B with individually decorated rooms and a great level of service from regularily filled up shower gel to the breakfast that included jam filled croissants and hard boiled eggs. The hotel benefits from being in a quiet square in an otherwise busy area.

This was our first visit to Venice and we stayed at Locanda Casa Querini in April for four nights. Before we left the staff emailed us a map with directions from the San Zaccaria vaporetto stop and then next morning provided a map with three routes from the hotel back to the Santa Lucia train station for us to use...

My family of 5 stayed here for 3 nights. It is a perfect location, basically backing onto San Marco. It is family-run by the kind Patty and her daughter Katarina who offered us help and good advice on restaurants, getting around, and sites to see. It is a small, boutique hotel with personal service, 16th century style rooms (modern style...

We had a great time at this hotel. We ended up staying an extra night and although our room was booked they made it very easy for us to switch rooms for the extra night. The breakfast is simple but nice and the rooms are spacious, very clean, and nicely decorated. It was extremely close to San Marcos without being...

Room was clean and charming with a nice view of the quiet square. Breakfast on the quiet courtyard was pleasant and very good with fresh croissants, hard boiled eggs, cheese, yogurt, and more. The staff was friendly, answered our many questions, and sweet enough to leave us with a small bag of breakfast since we had to check out very...

Location is a big plus. Only 3-5 minutes walk from San Zaccaria vaporetto station, max 10 minutes to San Marco. It's a nice, cozy place with very attentive staff who speak a very good English. Moreover, they have given us very good tips concerning transportation & connections of vaporetto. Rooms are clean & comfortable. The only disadvantage was no coffee/tea...

Great location in town, less than 5 min walk to St Marks Square. On a quiet back street. Breakfast (free) was edible but nothing special and served outside (we went in July so it was hot) or inside in a cramped breakfast area with no AC. Also, wall unit for AC did the job, but we never felt like our...

Thanks for the review, but the air conditioning works very well, if you have had problems, but I'm sorry, could you ask me or the boy, the plant and 'again. Then, I accept all major credit cards, cash would just pay the living tassadi. Unfortunately during your stay, and 'it was hot, not only for you but for everyone. Yours...

Perfect for access to the main attractions of Venice. Room was clean and quaint. Staff very kind and friendly. Breakfast wasn't amazing, but was suitable. Someone else described it as a quiet oasis in the midst of touristy chaos - this is very true. In the future I would probably stay in a different neighborhood with a more local scene...

A charming and quiet BnB located very close to San Marcos Square, with a nice complimentary breakfast and very helpful staff. Small in size with only a few rooms, it is perfect for couples desiring a private, quiet, location.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
