This hotel is a prefect choice when staying in Venice! It has a nice feel to it, other reviewers comments of old fashioned, quaint and faded grandeur are correct. Our room had a Murano chandelier in it! We saw them for sale at over 1000euro!!!! Everywhere is clean and tidy and the staff are helpful and pleasant. Breakfast is good...

First trip to Venice, stayed here for 3 days and had a wonderful time. Location of the hotel is perfect. Really close to the laliguna waterbus stops, no need to use private water taxi from airport, which is really expensive. The street is quiet and positioned midway between the busy and very commercial tourist areas and the quieter and more...

We loved this quaint hotel. Enjoyed our view of the square, which was extremely quiet. The front desk staff (especially Micheal) were so helpful with flawless English. Loved the breakfast with a fresh tray of honey in the comb every morning. GREAT location!

Returning to Venice, knew we wanted to stay close to St Marks Square, but most are very high price. Actually found this in Rick Steve's book (which we use for many of our vacations), fantastic recommendation and after reading Trip Advisor reviews we booked a week. Room to the front lokking at beautiful church across square, but not noisy, rooms...

A friendly Venetian hotel on a good site and directly opposite the Church of Santa Maria del Giglio. Very convenient for St Mark's Square and vaporetto stops. Hotel has its own access from the canal. Traditional hotel with older but character furniture and fittings. Good air conditioning. Breakfast is plentiful and varied. Small lift to upper floors The staff were...

Hi All, To be quite frank, this hotel is literally perfect any every sense of the word. Let me begin with locating the hotel. The hotel is a 500m walk from the main area of Venice, St Marks square. Getting to the hotel from the airport is very easy. You have 3 options; 1. Private water taxi landing straight to...

We loved our 3 night stay here! Our room had so much character, when booking the hotel we requested a canal facing room which were received it was amazing to sit on the window ledge each night and watch the gondolas pass by. The hotel is in a central location with lots of restaurants near by. We enjoyed breakfast in...

This hotel is a really nice 'old' fashioned hotel and I would recommend people to stay. The staff were polite, helpful and friendly however it was let down by not having a tea/coffee tray in the room even in the superior rooms and we missed having our early morning coffee, When I mentioned it to reception they said order room...

My second time around in Cenice has been amazing! The hotel was very well located and its staff so nice and wonderful to us. Rooms are clean and tidy though few little things needed to be fixed but overall, I was very happy with my stay there. Breakfast is really delicious and the location was just perfect as many of...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
