I am just back from a 5 night stay at San Giorgio. I'm not sure what some of the bad reviews were complaining about. I booked a single room but actually got a double so already I'm pretty happy. The hotel was easy to find from the Sant Angelo Vaparetto stop, took less than 5 minutes. There was no one...

We stayed here for a week booked through Citalia.Having read the trip advisor reviews we were quite worried before we arrived. We were able to find it very easily from our stop on the grand canal and were welcomed into the Hotel at 11am where our room was already available. The room was basic but entirely functional with everything in good working...

We stayed here in late July, what a big mistake. Hotel is extremely dated and very dusty and unhygienic. The amount of dust in the room was disgusting. I could literally taste the dust, feel it in my eyes and for this reason was unable to sleep. You couldn't see your reflection through the full length mirror due to it...

I saw differing reviews on this hotel through TripAdvisor and booking.com but honestly this was the worst hotel I have ever seen. Everything was broken, the bed was awful, duct tape on the walls, air conditioner can not be turned off leaving a damp smell, run down tiny bathroom. We were upset with how much this hotel was misrepresented to...

My husband and I stayed here for three nights as part of our honeymoon. On arrival there was no reception staff (staff from the sister hotel staff the reception of San Giorgio for part of each day). The staff member who came to let us into the hotel was friendly enough. The room is decorated in venetian style, and is...

The reason we stay here is only because of their location and price at the very last minute booking. I had never seen how small was the single room in entire of my life. Key has to be used to lock and open your door. The cleaning service was not done well. The cleaner pour water into my shoe without...

After braving the Vaporetto in the rain headed into the church , take at least half an hour to examine the wonderful paintings before heading up to the tower by lift ,only a few euros and definitely worth it .the views are 360 degrees but be aware of the bell ringing as it can be startling. Rain eased for some...

Tired old hotel, needs refurbishment and rooms are a bit small and restricting, but central to all the sights. The Concierge extremely helpful in pointing you in the right direction for your visits to sights..

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
