The finest hotel in venice I guess.. Good value for money, location, service, and excellent 3B (bath, bed, breakfast). Gondola service at hotel entrance, luxurious shops on your door step, grand canal only 3 minutes away, perfect, right? Will stay here again on my next visit to venice. Highly recommended!

We ended our Italian vacation in Venice and chose the Violino d'oro primarily because of great reviews on Tripadvisor. Well, we are here to add our great review of this hotel. Getting to the hotel from the train station proved to be a challenge as the "bus" system was on strike (hey - it was the only strike we encountered...

We're just back from five days at the Violino d'Oro and what a great time we've had. The hotel was immaculate, check in and check out was very efficient, the staff were very friendly and helpful without being overbearing. Breakfast was excellent with bacon and eggs, cereals, yoghurt, fresh rolls, cakes and more etc. We had a room overlooking a...

We were upgraded to this hotel because there was a problem with our room in their sister hotel Anastsia. Well the room we got was totally amazing with a beautiful rooftop garden area. The views were breathtaking n having a complimentary bottle of bubbly to enjoy in the afternoon just made the whole experience bliss. The ensuite and furnishings were...

Booked this hotel based on previous reviews and location. Agree with last review that the staff were excellent, very friendly and very helpful. The bedroom was typical Itilian standard, not huge but adequate for a short stay. There could have been more coathangers! Bed and sheets were spotless and gave a great nights sleep. Bath room very clean - shower...

Both charming and elegant this place is perfectly located and staffed with the best of front-desk employees I've ever encountered. Close to St. Marks Square and "Gondola Central," I wouldn't hesitate to stay again. The rooms are clean, large and well - appointed. The only drawback is that the delicious breakfast buffet area is set up for parties of two...

I can only echo what Bonanza11 has said. If you book this you may be pushed to the Hotel Anastasia if the management of the Hotel Violino d'Oro feel like it. They seem to feel it is no different to them as both Hotels are owned by the same company. Obviously to the person who is expecting to stay in...

Dear Gargybloke, the fact that you can only echo what bonanza11 has said, is quite obvious because you and bonanza11 are married; so your evaluation concerns the same stay. In any case, we will take in consideration also your opinion regarding room’s furniture and bathroom, bearing in mind that there are special laws in Venice for the conversion of a...

Dear bonanza11, I apologize for the drawback of the first night but, as we already explained you, we have really had a damage with the room you were firstly assigned and not a problem of overbooking. Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
