We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed the architecture, the location, and the friendliness of the staff. We loved how close it was to the water taxi after flying from Canada that day and bouncing off of Frankfurt before getting to Venice. We met a lot of friendly couples there from around the world, enjoyed the breakfasts and then went... More

Through booking.com I made a reservation for my partner and me at Salute Palace (3 stars), but that doesn't seem to exist and we ended up in Alla Salute (2 stars). The room we stayed in the first night had the size of a bathroom (2,5 x 2,5 metres) and had no telephone, no bed lamps and only one working... More

Have been staying at the Hotel alla Salute for over ten years (all seasons but avoid summer and the mosquitoes). Best time January-March when one has Venice all to one self. This beautiful rustic residentially located property is walking distance to the Peggy Guggenheim Museum, the Cathedral of alla Salute and other great museums and pijts of interest generally not... A good basic hotel with excellent location, a 10 minute walk from St Marc's Square and 5 minutes to the vaporetto. The room was standard with a nice bed and a decent sized bathroom. The room itself is pretty small, but I don't believe anyone is visiting Venice to stay at the hotel. The breakfast was okay, maybe too much... More

Only a few minutes walk from the Salute Vaporetto stop. Quiet location. The rooms are clean and the basic needs are all met. The reception staff are very helpful. We loved the vending machines in the garden courtyard giving us access to 24 hour cold bottled water and coffee. Yes, they do charge for internet, however, 5 euros for 24... More

This hotel is a disaster and expensive! They charge 2.5 e per hour of Internet! Everything is extremely old! You can feel the springs in the mattress, service is bad, the hotel isn't even straight, all the doors and windows are crooked. No electrical connection, shower with fungi, there is a new side of the building that costs the same... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
