My family of 15 really enjoyed staying in this hotel. The rooms were nice, and the breakfast was amazing. There is a nice little restaurant/pizzeria just outside the hotel, and a gelato shop around the corner. The only drawback to the hotel is the lobby is small, and there's no big sitting room; but that's because it used to be...

My family stayed at this hotel over the Christmas holidays. We were a large group with several rooms. The hotel is in a good location close to Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square. It could be confusing to find, but we had printed the map from the website so didn't have any difficulties. The rooms were small, but the beds...

We had a brief two night stay in magical Venice and Hotel Canaletto was perfect for us. Situated approximately halfway between Piazza San Marco and Rialto Bridge, this little hotel provided everything and more. Rooms are small but very comfortable. Linen and towels were nice, bathroom lovely and the breakfast was very nice also. The staff were wonderful, especially Igor,...

Tucked away in a quiet corner of the neighborhood, and yet very close to some great restaurants and bars, and major sights (Rialto bridge, Saint Marks's square). Our only complaint would have been that the cafe area for breakfast was small and we ended up having to eat at the computer table next to the checkin counter. Maybe it is...

This hotel was clean, had a great location, and included free breakfast. We did get lost finding the hotel; we had to ask locals and it was so complex to get there and the lady actually walked us to the front of the hotel. However, once we figured it out, everything was close by and really ideal. I would come...

I stayed in this hotel for a couple of days and I must say that it is very good! People are nice, bedrooms are clean and comfortable, the service is perfect. There's also the possibility to deposit the luggage in a specific room and to use a bathroom for free. The location is typical and the hotel is situated at...

This hotel is located off the main track, so the rooms are lovely and quiet. It is very difficult to find without a map. The hotel itself is quaint. Please be warned there is no elevator! Our room was furnished beautifully, small, but classic. There is no carpet on the floors, so they were very cold, and the heating didn't...

It is one of the options to stay near Rialto Bridge in Venice which is one of the tourism spots and ACTV station in main line waterbus. Just under 20 minutes from Ferrovia (train station) to Rialto C with waterbus number 1 or 2. The hotel also gives 10% discount to one self-service restaurant near Rialto bridge. Around 8 minutes...

I have to give bad review because the reception staff was awful. The hotel was so difficult to find. It is not located on major street, but on the space behind narrow street. We arrived to Venice early evening, and it got dark already. I had a map downloaded from the hotel’s website and google GPS, but could not find...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The hotel is situated in the heart of the romantic city of Venice, in a very quiet position just 200m from the beautiful St. Mark’s Square and the famous Rialto Bridge. It is the ideal starting point to set off through the alleys to discover the wonderful monuments and typical shops which hide all the ancient, fascinating mysteries of Venice. The hotel takes its name from the famous Venetian artist, Antonio Canal, who was known as Canaletto. The rooms where the artist used to live (1697-1768) have now become our elegant hotel rooms. A friendly, elegant, romantic and quiet atmosphere furnished in typical 18th century Venetian style, with stucco work, damask, hand lacquered and gilded furniture, Murano glass mirrors and lamps. All rooms are soundproofed and have private bathroom with shower or bath, air conditioning, telephone, Wi-Fi internet access, minibar, sat TV, hair dryer and safe. There are also our superior rooms with views of the canal or the typical square with the well-curb. The elegant public rooms (breakfast room, bar, TV room, internet point and Wi-Fi access) are all decorated with stucco work and the antique smoothed lime finish, and have some lovely reproduction of Canaletto’s works on the walls. ... more   less
