Hotel is in an amazing location from st marks square. It is simple and quaint- perfect for if visiting for a few days. Very clean and well kept. Continental breakfast is good. Would really recommend! !

We chose this hotel as am a regular at Choice Hotels and used points for part of the stay. We didn't need a great place to stay so this was OK. It's a short walk from everything so that worked well. The staff helped when we had to store our things because of timing issues. They also helped with some...

This hotel is located in Piazza San Marco and it is the unique good thing about it. The decoration is old; the building is old and there is absolutely no comfort there. Could not sleep at night. Also if you are allergic; this place is not for you: Plus; there are a lot of mosquuitos here:The staff is very rude...

Smelly and uncomfortable hotel. The building is really old and not renewed at all. There is a lot of dust in the room and the toilette is old and dirty. The personnel is really unprofessional! I really suggest going somewhere else.

I never booked a hotel before, and they send us to a different hotel. This is a total mistreatment. My dad and me booked the hotel 1 month in advance, looking at the great location. When we arrived in the check in desk on 17 Dec 2016, at 10pm, the man asked my booking voucher. He told me yes I...

I was coming off a cruise. I was staying on the ship but went by to make sure I could find the hotel before I went searching with all my luggage. I went to the front desk (small lobby with really cramped seating for breakfast) gave my name and the man told me that I was not due yet and...

Let's be clear. The best thing about this hotel is the location. It's near San Marco square without being "too near". Although a little expensive for the services they provide (see below) it's not so much when you compare the prices with other hotels in Venice. Regarding the bad things I'll make a small list: - rooms need an urgent...

We stayed 3 nights before a cruise. The room was quite small but certainly adequate as we were only there for sleeping. It is located right behind San Marco and very close to the vaporetto. The young man on the front desk spoke English and was very, very helpful with directions. The breakfast is included in the sister hotel across...

Venice is such a beautiful place to visit, however brexit has made it very expensive to stay. We stayed in the hotel Diana which is fairly ordinary, a bit dated but central. The breakfast is served across from the hotel in the padana sister hotel. The breakfast room was small and crowded and was not the most relaxed breakfast we've...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
