Stayed in room 103. It was clean and maintained...it also had enough mirrors/mirrored doors to keep Simon Cowell happy (10 in total) and a glorious chandelier that rocked gently when Italy suffered its earthquake on Sunday 30th October. The wet room adds to the quirky charm as you can gaze at the shower fittings, with your feet in the shower...

I used to take groups to this hotel until about fifteen years ago and, although I have been back to Venice many time since then, I always stayed in other hotels. For this visit I was looking for a hotel which is within walking distance of Piazzale Roma (the last place you can take road transport into Venice), was easily...

If you are looking for a good clean hotel in a great location at a realistic price then the Pantalon is for you. If you need great views, a huge bedroom and bathroom then go and pay through the nose elsewhere. Staff were pleasant, well presented and helpful. The location is a ten minute walk from the bus and train...

The hotel are clean as general... The rooms are quiet and it's near both to vaporetto and bus station. They have friendly manager and speak English... The hotel is near both to the restaurants, bars and bakery.

We arrived at the hotel late and left early so did t spend too much time here. It was an atmospheric but average, small backstreet hotel near the San Toma waterbus stop. Overpriced though. Breakfast was basic and you had to pay extra if you wanted eggs or any other hot food. The receptionist was extremely surly. I waited for...

No frills hotel with courteous and friendly manager. Bearing in mind that I was here to see Venice rather than spend all day in my room, the hotel and room met all my needs. Air conditioning worked really well and my room was very quiet. My bed was firm but I like that and slept really well. Some reviews have...

We had a lovely week at this hotel. The rooms are quite small and the air conditioning wasn't especially effective (so be warned in the middle of summer!) but the location was just what we wanted, 5 minutes from a vaporetto stop and right next to the Frari and lots of lovely restaurants & bars. The only other downside was...

I do really love San Polo area. This hotel is located in the hard of the island. Reception staff is nice and patience. Of course, Venice is a great place with very hight prices and for years hoteliers have been making good profit without making any facilities improvements as tourists will Always come & go. This hotel could have been...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
