Unfortunately we where very disappointed of this hotel. We read all the positive recommendations on TA and hoped for a good nights sleep for our visit in beautiful Venice. First thing, the bathroom was not clean and our room smelled a bit of mold. The AC did not work so it was tremendously hot during the nite. There where also...

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Orion June/July 2014 and we were extremely happy with our very clean and unfussy room. The staff were all very friendly and attentive even when we had to check in at 1.30 in the morning because of our delayed flight! The breakfast was really lovely, a good choice of croissants and plenty...

A lovely little hotel which was very close to San Marco square. The room was nicely furnished and was very clean. The shower was good although we had some difficulties with the temperature. The air conditioning was not very powerful but it wasn't too hot when we went so this didn't bother us too much. It was slightly noisy at...

As other reviewers have mentioned, the location of Hotel Orion, but a stone's throw from San Marco square, is its real asset. Our room was not especially noisy considering the popular tourist area, although I would recommend ear plugs if you're at all a light sleeper (I always travel with them!). The breakfast was the usual fare but served in...

We had a pleasant stay. Hotels in Venice are small and expensive, so the Hotel Orion proved to be typical in size and a good value for price. Staff were helpful when needed. The breakfast was typical Italian (don't expect much) but a big plus is that it is included with the room. The cappuccino was not bad either! Plenty...

Great location. Hotel room small by NA standards but as expected. Shower in bathroom in room 35 is poorly designed and leaves water all over. Beds quite comfortable. Air conditioned but as in all of Europe not quite the same as NA standards. The best was the fellow that was there at check in time. He was absolutely excellent. Went...

This is as basic as you can get, no tea/coffee making facilities apart from an over priced mini bar. The furniture was tired and old, squint lightshade and squint mirror, placed in a position that made it impossible to see yourself in full view. Not a room you would want to spend any time in and we didn't! Breakfast was...

Just want to say thank you to all the staff members in the hotel. We stayed there for 6 nights. My parents, sister and brother-in-law like to drink hot water. There is no place to boil water in the room. So the staff brought hot water in a thermal bottle to their rooms every day. "Massimiliano" is specially sweet and...

Just what we wanted. Perfect position for sightseeing. Room small but had everything we needed and the breakfast was good. The staff were very friendly. Good value for money and would recommend this hotel to anybody.

A pretty nice hotel, well placed. Don't be dissapointed by the reception. You will find small rooms and even a smaller place to have your breakfast. Nevertheless, a warm place. Good value for money. Lovely for couples.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
