Hotel Orion is located close to St Marks Square and handy for vaparetto to/from the airport. Rooms were adequate in size and decorated typically Venetian. This hotel doesn't have a lift so as per other reviews if you have mobility difficulties it's prob not the hotel for you! Breakfast was really nice... croissants, rolls, ham, cheese and yoghurts... along with...

When we check in on 7 May at about 2pm, we were allocated room 36 at level 3 . As there was no lift, we have requested for lower floor but was declined by the hotel staff. The staff even said we have to carry the luggages up on our own. We were disappointed with the service provided, expecting the...

Dear Guests, you requested a room on higher floors and that was what we provided. Once here you asked a room on lower floor but of course it was too late for that request: all these rooms were booked. Also we help everyone and everytime with luggage but we need the time to do this: at check-in we need time...

When booking the hotel I wasn't quite sure what to expect, it had been rated as a 2 star hotel and I had read some mixed reviews. Upon arriving early, we were greeted by a lovely man at reception who checked us in and we were allowed to go to our room early rather than wait for the 2pm check...

Dear Guests, we follow the rules for pollution of our Country (law n.10 dated 1991 and Dpr n. 412 dated 26th August 1993) that set the time for opening heating in winter and air conditioning on summer. For summer it's the end of May. Even if Venezia is crowded you can left the window opened: without cars and traffic is...

I have just come back from another wonderful stay in this charming hotel. This time I took my mother father and sister in law with me. They all loved it just as much as my son and me. The hotel is a small one with lots of character, unlike some of these larger hotels. The staff are so polite helpful...

I arrive to this hotel after been in the Rio hotel in Venice. I make the check out from the Rio hotel around 11:30 so I was around 11:40 in the Orion hotel. The problem stars: I arrive to the hotel and the receptionist look at me with strange eyes, like I was not supposed to be there, he asks...

Dear Guest, first of all sorry if I looked at you with strange eyes but, as you said, you were two nights in Venezia and you decided to stay one night in an hotel (Rio) and then to move for another night in another hotel (Orion): it seemed to me so weird I was thinking you were confused or wrong,...

I was staying for 2 nights in Venice for my 18th birthday with my 15 yr old sister on our first overseas trip alone. The hotel staff were so kind to us and helped us with lots of things. The hotel is very central and close to San Marco and easy to get around either by walking or on the...

A friendly hotel in a very convenient location. It is easy to reach either mit Marco square or from Rialto. The breakfast is simple, but good, the staff very helpful. There are many restaurants and bars nearby so that you can easily find something to your taste.

Once again we enjoyed staying at this great little hotel. It's perfectly located between St Mark's and Rialto and extremely friendly and comfortable. The new self service breakfast works well with an excellent choice of food. The room and en-suite bathroom was spotlessly clean and very attractively decorated. Great value for money.

The staff at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious. The location of the hotel was perfect. The hotel is minutes from St Mark's Square and a 10 minute walk to all other locations.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
