Brilliant staff, great location approx 5 mins walk to bus station, 4 mins to rail station, 3 mins walk to waterbus and the Scalzi bridge. Loads of restaurants and shops, bars along Lista De Spagna. Basic continental breakfast, loads to eat, nice coffee and juice, same every day, waiting staff very friendly and obliging. Antonio and his colleagues made us...

Hard in Venice to measure anything in terms of value as everything is so ridiculously off the chart. First you need to walk 3 or 4 sets of stairs to get to your rooms. The supposed "bellboys" are really non existing. With a 2 year old, luggage it was a struggle. Internet is hit and miss. Lady at breakfast was...

It was a surprise getaway in end August booked by my other half in a package deal with an airline company. 2,5 days in Venice very well spent thanks to a the hotel as well. We took the water taxi from the airport and getting off right at the 2nd stop at Guglie just about 100m away from the hotel...

The location was a short walk to the train station, boat taxis, and much of Venice. We knew there was no elevator, but were on the 3rd floor, plus it is an additional flight of steps to get to the lobby. With heavy luggage it was doable, but not prefered at our age. The staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating....

I stayed at Hotel Spagna for three night with my family after a cruise to the Mediterranean. The hotel is a couple of minutes walk from Piazza Roma. Since we have large luggage a we hired a porter from Piazza Roma. It would have been a disaster if we tried to haul those luggages up and down the bridge steps....

The only positive item I can mention is the very nice location, close to train station and grand canal, surrendered by many restaurants and shops, which sure you will enjoy them. But hotel was not good. Hotel has no elevator and I strongly suggest to chose another hotel if you have kids with trolley. Also rooms has no refrigerator which...

I stayed here for two night with husband and 6 yr old son. Perfect location from train station - 4-5 minute walk. It is on a busy street but this just adds to the character. It was nice to chill out on the bed and listen to the sounds outside and when windows were closed not a sound could be...

Location isn't everything in Venice, but it is very important if you don't have a lot of money to blow and time to kill. I stayed in hotel Spagna for 2 nights on holiday from the US. In summary: Pros- 1) We took a public transport bus from the airport and walked from the Venice stop to this hotel in...

The hotel is 7 min walking from the bus stop of Piazza Roma and just 3 from the train station. You can start exploring Venice from here, walking until the Rialto bridge, grand canal, etc. There are many souvenirs stores, ice cream or gellato houses in the path to the historical sites. Breakfast, it is very simple but with quality...

Venice is filled with old fashion tradition throughout the city and thus hotel is the perfect stay to embrace this. Just a 5 min walk from the Venice S.L train station or water taxi station in the hustle of cafes and shops. A great warm welcome from friendly staff who provide helpful information on the city. Rooms are small and...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
