Picturesque hotel with nice furniture. It is historical building. It overlooks Giudecca Canal and you easily view Chiesa Del Santisimo Redentore to your left. Few boat stations to get by and visit Venice many attractions and if ready to walk can go thru interesting streets....More

Wonderfully located right on the water with views over to Giudecca, La Calcina is our best find yet in Venice. Cosy and warm for our January stay, this charming, family-run pensione is ideally placed on the quiet Zattere, a couple of minutes from the Accademia,...More

Quite expensive for what it is, but this is Venezia... Everything is, and tourists keep coming in droves. The room: clean and old world charm double room with a spectacular view of la Giudecca. Bathroom a bit disappointing (shower way too small), but otherwise adequate....More

We had a lovely 7-night stay at La Calcina. The location is unbeatable -- away from the crowds yet walking distance to everything, with convenient vaporetto service minutes from the front door. The staff are friendly, professional and service-oriented. The lobby and common rooms are...More

The room was so small, about the size of an average stateroom on a cruise ship. Full of mosquitos, very small bathroom. We paid 1000 Euros ($1600 CAD) for three nights and not worth it. It cost more than our three nights in an over...More

You can indeed walk quite easily via the Accademia bridge, with a total walking time of 15-20 minutes, assuming you don't allow yourself to get distracted on the way! Vaporetto's are also fairly frequent.
