It is not often you come across such a special place. The service is impeccable just like staying in a five star Hotel. The breakfast is superb in fact while continuing my travels through Italy every morning I thought of the breakfast at Hotel Flora! The room was very comfortable and clean, the garden fantastic and the gym was an...

Just got back from 5 nights in the Hotel Flora, the hotel is in a superb location literally minutes from Piazza San Marco just off the main super expensive shopping street of Calle Larga. The decor is very in keeping with traditional styles with wall hangings and antiques all over the place, the rooms also reflect this as well, they...

We had the family room with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. The location is fabulous and the breakfast was the shining star. They really go out of their way to provide an excellent spread of fresh and baked goods. We loved sitting in the courtyard in the morning, such a wonderful way to start the day in Venice

We arrived about 10am after disembarking our cruise ship. We knew that checkin wasn't until mid afternoon. The staff were very welcoming and we were able to leave our luggage. We were also offered tea, coffee and breakfast which was lovely, although we just had tea and coffee. We then explored Venice and arrived back at the hotel late afternoon....

This hotel, with it's lovely garden and wonderful staff is in a wonderful location. Within close walking distance of San Marco Piazza, this hotel is a lovely little gem and a great value. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast inside or in the garden was extensive and quite good. Our room, though not large was lovely and...

The Hotel Flora a gem among the madness that is Venice. It is smal and intimate, with rather small but adequate rooms, an attractive outdoor breakfast area and cozy bar located near some of the best (and most expensive hotels in Venice) and the Pizza San Marco. What sets the Flora apart from most others is truly outstanding, attentive service...

It is very important for this traveler to have WIFI in the hotel room. (heavily advertised as available by the Hotel). WIFI did not work anywhere in the hotel the entire stay at the Hotel Flora- four days. It was necessary to go off location to a business with a password protected network. The cost to me to go off...

The staff were very nice and helpful. The room was super cute, comfortable and clean. The wifi unfortunately never worked. Had to go downstairs to use it. The location is kind of right in the most crowded street but down an alley. The garden is lovely.

Hotel Flora is a charming small hotel tucked away in a quiet location near St Mark's square. The decor is antique Venetian, including chandeliers in the bedroom. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The breakfast garden is gorgeous. We also enjoyed afternoon drinks in this garden where you could escape the chaos and heat of the streets. An accomplished...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
