Upon our arrival, the employees of the Hotel could not have been any nicer. The Hotel was very clean, the breakfast (which was included) was plentiful and had a wide variety of items that would please anyone. The waitstaff was very attentive. A very enjoyable experience. The porter took our luggage from the hotel to the water taxi with no...

When we visit Venice we always stay at the Hotel Flora a beautiful family run Hotel with a small garden tucked away very close to St Marks Square. The staff are fantastic when you talk to them they have been at the Flora many for over 30 years. Their knowledge of special local restaurants, sights and events are always excellent. If...

Location of the hotel is excellent and central in Venice - and it is pushed back off the Main Street so it is peaceful at night. They also have a lovely garden area you can probably have breakfast in when the weather is warmer. The staff was outstanding! Friendly and helpful. We especially loved the gentleman that worked in the...

Great friendly and helpful staff, delicious breakfast, small but lovely room. Great location near St. marks and museums. Quiet courtyard and location made it a peaceful oasis but very convenient to everything we wanted. Charming and comfortable.

Hotel Flora is tucked away in a tiny side alley, just a few minutes walk away from Piazza San Marco. The front desk staff were welcoming and helpful, giving good advice on how best to get around the city in the short time we had, even marking the best walking routes on our map. Our room was a little on...

All reviews on TripAdvisor about this treasure of a hotel are spot on. Forget about the small negatives. We were lucky to be given a room on the ground floor overlooking the beautiful garden setting. The breakfast buffet, was more than adequate. Unfortunately we didn't get the name of the gentleman looking after the bar. He wasn't there the morning...

We spent 2 nights here and loved this pretty hotel in an excellent location, just five minutes walk from St Marks Square. We travelled from Marco Polo airport by water taxi (cost 15 euros per person) on the orange line and got off at the Santa Maria del Giglo stop, just a 3 minute walk (crossing just one bridge) to...

The Hotel Flora is beyond wonderful. Easy walking distance to San Marco and La Fenice, but very very quiet neighborhood. Lovely restaurants and shops nearby and a handy gondola stop. Five minutes from vaporetto Giglio. Rooms were lovely and clean, bathrooms all updated and modern. The breakfast buffet is scrumptious, and the small bar is ready in the evening to...

We stayed at the Hotel Flora for three nights in October 2016. This small hotel is perfectly located near the center of action (5 minute walk to San Marco) but on a quiet little calle. The staff there is the most friendly and helpful I've found anywhere. Their breakfast is bountiful. The rooms are small but well furnished, including lovely...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
