This is a very nice hotel. Near the vaporetti stop behind San Marco square. Rooms are clean and beautifully appointed. Bathrooms are small but functional. Breakfast was European:cold cuts, cheese and pastries. There is a nod to the North Americans with scrambled eggs. Coffee is great. Staff is helpful. Vaporetti 1&2 do not run through the Grand Canal from the...

Absolutely loved this little gem of a place. Easy to find and fantastic location. Rooms cosy, we slept 4 comfortably. Breakfast is very Italian and quite lovely. Customer service is also very good. Best thing is by far the location. Close enough to all attractions, but quiet! Couldn't give it anything else but 5 stars!!

This hotel is located centrally, near all tourist attractions and it’s also very close to the vaporetto (transport from and to airport) which is highly convenient when you have to come and get to the airport. The rooms are very pleasant and all the staff very professional and helpful. The only inconvenience was the noise late at night of the...

Being just up a side street from the hustle and bustle of the Water buses and promenade we found the location to be excellent. It's a quick walk to St Marks square but you are far enough away from the crowds and restaurants with silly prices. We were traveling with 2 teenagers and found he room (M) nice and spacious...

Nice old Hotel well situated, as in all Venice hotels rooms are small, but clean.Free breakfast was good but little choices.Very friendly staff and very accommodating. We would stay there again. The hotel is situated close to the ferry pier,so not far to walk with luggage.

I am so happy that we found this hotel. Stayed for 1 night but made us want to stay another night, unfortunately was fully booked. Clean, comfortable and perfectly located. Off quiet back street provided perfect privacy

We booked Hotel Campiello because not only did it have good reviews, but Rick Steves recommended it. This hotel had a GREAT location - it's just behind the Hotel Danieli - about 3 minutes away from the San Zaccaria vaporetto stop and about a 5-6 minute walk to Piazza San Marco. Location wise, it was ideal - you could walk...

We stayed just one night in Venice, but I'm so glad we didn't skip visiting this beautiful and historic city. Hotel Campiello was perfect for us. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was quite comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and well-staffed. The hotel was just down from a vaporetto stop. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a very cute boutique hotel in Venice. The location of the hotel is great as it is just steps away from the vaporetto (bus) stop. The room décor was very nice and updated. However, I will say, the room was very small. [Note, my friends who stayed at different hotels in Venice during our trip, also said their...

We had a great stay at Hotel Campiello. Our flight arrived late and we were able to quickly and easily find the hotel. The woman who checked us in recommended an amazing restaurant nearby- can't remember the name- but we were told it's somehow hooked up with the hotel. It was so good! The room was pretty spacious for Europe...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
