We stayed for 4 nights over Easter and this hotel certainly lived up to our expectations. Our room had three windows overlooking the lagoon with ever changing views of boats, ships etc. There are some wonderful restaurants nearby especially the fish restaurant two bridges down from the hotel, it was very busy on Easter Monday but the hotel secured a... From the outside-view Hotel Bucintoro is not the most very eye-catching house, but this impression is wrong. Not only the location is perfect (10 minutes walk to marcus-place), but also the interiour (based on the interiour of a yacht), cleanliness and the plaesentness of the staff. Staying at this hotel is a very good choice.

We just returned from 12 days in Italy and stayed for 4 nights at the Hotel Bucintoro. The hotel is easily accessible from the train station by vaporetto Line 1 (about a 35 minute ride up the Grand Canal) to the Arsenale stop. Just one bridge over is the hotel (ignore the guys selling knock-off handbags on the bridge). Great... More

We stayed at Hotel Bucintoro for three days and the service was exemplary - we had the pleasure of having Michele Constantini as our concierge and he went well beyond the call of duty to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable. Fabulous place with great food.

We stayed for 3 nights, there were 6 of us and we all enjoyed everything. The rooms, the food, the location, the service was exceptional especially Michele, he is by far the most helpful, friendly, happy, knowledgable concierge I have ever come across. Thank you so much for making our trip so perfect.

This hotel is located away from the crowds in Venice - a very important consideration. It is right on the shore, and views from its rooms are gorgeous. With this, it is only a 15-20 minute walk from the madness (in terms of tourist crowds) of St Mark's Square. What is also convenient is that Hotel Bucintoro is only one... More

We had read earlier reviews of this hotel and decided for the price and comments to stay at this place. We found a very nice hotel in a good location that meet all our needs. My wife and i and mom and dad both had Junior suites on the second floor. Not the biggest rooms we ever stayed in but... More

Our first trip to Venice and we couldnt have asked for a better hotel. Centrally located, with wonderful views but easy enough to get away from the crowds to the district of Castello.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
