We stayed here for 3 days and it was fabulous. The hotel was very clean and quiet, located 15-20 min from the bustle of St. Marks. The location in the Accedemia neighborhood was fantastic and gave more of the local artsy flavor Venice has to offer. Additionally, it was less than 5 minutes from the water bus stop Accedemia, making...

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The air conditioning worked great which we really appreciated after our stay somewhere else. The rooms were clean, not large, but comfortable. The bathroom was a little small along with the shower but it was okay. I recommend you use their hairdryer even if you brought a converter. While getting ready one morning,...

We loved the location of this hotel, a quiet and delightful area close to everything. The outdoor garden area was wonderful but as others have mentioned, the rooms are not special. Our king bed was fine but the kids slept on a very old bunk bed that was not comfortable. It's hard to find quad accomodations. We didn't have any...

I have mixed feelings about the Belle Arti. Firstly, the hotel is in a great location near the Academia Bridge and a 10 minute walk to St Marks Square. The hotel also has a wonderful Courtyard to sit in and the rooms are what you would expect of a 3 star hotel, however they all needed a maintenance person to...

This hotel is well located in Dorsoduro, very near Accademia Museum, Bridge and vaporetto stop. You can get there easily by vaporetto (the public water bus) from the Santa Lucia train station, so no need to pay $100 for a private water taxi. The hotel is modern, but rooms are small, and the air conditioning was not on during our...

I stayed at the Belle Arti for 2 nights, the location is great, room a bit small and a bit of trouble to find out how to switch on tv and heating (I've been told after that the heating was centrally turned off for the season) and you would expect a bit of literature in the room on how to...

Stayed here 2 nights with a Rick Steves tour. Room was small and we did not have too much room for our luggage. Room door were tricky to use. Breakfast was adequate to get us going for the day. Tried to get the room cooled down by speaking to the front desk as advised by tour guide. Desk advised AC...

Stayed here for two nights in mid October, 2008 on a group tour. Weather was in the low 70's so we didn't need to test the air conditioning. You can't beat the location of this hotel--very close to the vaporetto stop, grocery store, and restaurants. Granted, the rooms are small--but who spends time in your room when you are in...

Nice location - easy to get to from the vaporetto stop. Nice courtyard. Rooms are VERY small and not in very good shape. We had holes in the wall, a backwards shower, missing light bulbs, old, uncomfortable bed. Although they advertise they have A/C - it is not available in October even though the temp in our room was at...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
