We stayed here for 5 nights in mid May following a recommendation in Holiday Which?. Great position - 5 minutes from the Accademia bridge, a quiet backwater off the main tourist trails. Staff very pleasant and polite. We would undoubtedly use this again for our next Venice trip. Great breakfast in the morning.

My Mum and I travelled to Italy to celebrate my 40th birthday. I chose Pensione Accademia for it's location, its gardens and for the view to the Grande Canal. The hotel is fantastic. Character filled. The staff offer a very personal service. We enjoyed our stay so much, we would both love to go back! Breakfast is fantastic!

Friendly and helpful staff with great maps and suggestions, wonderfully comfortable room with beautiful light fixtures and windows to the canal, tasty breakfasts (eat outside for a sweet start to the day) made our stay one to remember. It was a bit of a maze, so pay attention when first getting to our room.

I only stayed for one night but this hotel is a must stay! The courteous staff were so helpful and the friendliest people I encountered on my journey. They had great recommendations for restaurants and even steered me away from expensive water taxis. The location itself is in a great part of Venice where you feel a little less touristy...

This hotel is something quite unique. set in an old venetian villa with its own garden and private taxi boat access to the canal. the service was 5 star and very attentive. the location is only 5 mins walk to the academia bridge with takes you over to san marco. there's also a river boat stop nearby that connects it...

We went to Venice for the first time and were very lucky to stay at the Pensione Accademia - a really nice place in a brilliant location, central but a bit out of the main tourist streams. Plenty of nice places to eat nearby.

Absolute gem. Anyone visiting Venice should consider staying here. Very traditional. Helpful staff (also very amusing). Lovely. Will definitely go back!! My only slight problem was that the bed was very hard. Recommended by friends. Thank you. xx

Venice is crowded and you need a nice place to stay that is close to a vaporetto but quiet. We had a corner room with a view of the canals on the second floor. There were a lot of steps so may not be good for people who have trouble with them. It was a large room , very luxurious....

Cleanness of the room, comfort of the bed and provided amenities contributed to making the room very comfortable. Breakfast was also of very good quality. Throughout the stay the...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
