We stayed in this hotel for a weekend in January with my husband. The location was great, very easy to get there from the airport as it is located close to the bus station. The walk to the centre was very enjoyable (not long at all), and the area was great, full of good bars, restaurants and shops - a...

The Hotel Falier is situated 2-3 km from Piazza di San Marco, and as this is Venice, it means that you have to walk there. (Which is very plesant, so I am not complaining.) I payed 150 euros for a room which was barely larger than the bed, situated on the ground floor, facing a narrow alley way (but as...

The hotel is a comfortable walk to Piazzale Roma and the Train Station. If you have large luggage, crossing the bridges will require some muscle. We had a room on the 3rd level. No elevators. Our friends stayed 1 night post-cruise and they were in rooms on the ground floor. Although everyone paid the same rate (150 euros per night),...

This hotel is very small and very expensive but then, that is Venice. Our luggage was lost on arrival which ended up being a good thing as we would not have fit it in our room. I was travelling with my father so it was a little intimate having only a matter of cm between our twin beds. We rearranged...

It's a 10-15mins walk from the main train station, but 20-30mins walk to St. Mark's Square. There's several good restaurants and souvenir shops nearby which are even better than the ones at the center. We liked the common areas and hotel facade - very stylish. However, the room was small and a bit smelly. The bathroom could've been better with...

The room we stayed in was just enough for a couple who are staying for a short time. Though the bathroom is clean, it is quite small with the shower area seems to be designed for small/skinny people. We wish breakfast is served earlier than 8am and if coffee/croissant/biscotti is a typical Venezian breakfast, we wish there would be at...

Rooms are small but clean and comfy. Shower curtain sticks to you but managable. Did not spend much time awake in the hotel - breakfast was croissants/bread rolls but there was cereals and yoghurt if you wanted it. Staff friendly and welcoming. Ideal for a short break. Have WiFi. Seated garden at the back lovely to sit in x

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
