The location of this hotel is fantastic - within a 15 minute walk of all of the main sights and attractions of Venice. Rooms are very grand and staff very helpful. Breakfast was OK but did expect a little better given the quality elsewhere. It is certainly expensive but that is more representative of how costly Venice is to visit...

Central location - Tick.... 2 mins from Rialto, 10mins from St Mark's. One of the starting points for the Venice free walking tour. Clean, comfortable and nicely decorated rooms - Tick.... we had a deluxe canal view room which was spacious, typically Venetian in style and very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Helpful and friendly staff - Tick and double tick......

After a cruise, we spent a few days in this elegant and romantic hotel. It's perfectly located, staff is friendly and helpful and our room was clean, spacious and nicely furnitured. Venice was just beautiful.

The best part of my trip to Venice was this ancient hotel, the location of the hotel is just amazing, the breakfast hall and the breakfast itself were wonderful, the lady at the reception was really helpful and she gave me a lot of information about the beautiful city. If I go back again, defiantly I ll stay at the...

This was by far the BEST hotel we stayed in while in Italy! It was VERY clean! They allowed us to drop off luggage way before check in and when we came back later that evening our luggage was safely stored in our room! The desk clerks were very helpful and always had a smile on their face! The room...

Very happy that we stayed here. Stayed Nov 29 - Dec 2 as a mid-20s couple. Pros: --Less than 10 minute walk from F.TE Nove (Alilaguna) stop. Paths are easy to drag suitcases across as well (except for a few canal bridges). Roundtrip fare from airport was 54 euro; about a 40-45 min trip --Nice Rooms --Good breakfast (white/wheat bread,...

Some friends recommended Antico Doge to me, and I'm grateful they did. Though not in the very heart of the city, it is well located for access to the Grand Canal (a 5-minute walk to the Ca' d'Oro vaporetto stop); the Rialto Bridge (7 minutes in the opposite direction); and a quick trip (25 minutes) by water taxi to Marco...

We went for a four day trip to Venice and loved this little hotel. Great location - close to all attractions, wonderful staff which goes above and beyond to make your stay special. Italian breakfast with fresh fruits from 7.30 to 10.30 am in a lovely antique breakfast room offers a great start in the morning. Our room was perfect...

Everything you want from a hotel, we were made to feel nothing was any trouble to make our stay comfortable. It was very clean and the breakfast was very good served in a nice restuarant room. Bed was comfortable although the T.v. Did not have any English channels apart from BBC news. We got an upgrade to a suite.

truelly a wonderful find in a place that is full of wonderfull hotels. We had the main four poster doge room shown in most of the pictures and it was fantastic. A small balcony overlooks the main square and the gondolas below. The continental breakfast was just right. Not a lot if anything to do in the hotel but so...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Discover in the gothic walls of Palazzo del Doge Marin Falier, the magic atmosphere of old Venice, where art and history are the expression of an incantation. Facing Campo SS.Apostoli, reflected in the waters of a romantic canal, this is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in layers of silk, brocades, damasks and gilt mirrors that echo a Serenissima of long ago, a city of travel and commerce with the entire Orient. The Palazzo del Doge Falier, situated close to Piazza S. Marco and the Rialto Bridge, has been restored with passion and attention to detail. The hotel rooms, fitted with every comfort and elegantly furnished with original antique pieces, some have jacuzzi, separate shower cubicles, hairdryers, satellite TV, a direct telephone line, Internet WI-FI, air conditioning with individual room control, a safe-deposit box, and there is a buffet breakfast. The rich treasures of Venice, together with the elegance, prestige and history of our hotel, will make your stay an unforgettable one. ... more   less
