I stayed here for 5 nights and had a double room with ensuite. it was small but clean and it had airconditioning (very much appreciated in the heat) Our room was also very quiet as we were on the back side of the hotel. Breakfast was what we expected with coffee, bread, jam, cornflakes and yoghurt. The hotel was easy...

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and whilst the room was basic, and quite small, it was perfectly adequate as a base for sightseeing. If you're looking for luxury then this probably isn’t the best hotel for you, but if you are on a budget and looking for a nice hotel with friendly staff in an EXCELLENT location...

If you have reservations for the train early next morning, this is the best option because it is about a block from the train station. We only had one day in Venice and it was great because we literally dropped our bags and hopped on a vaporetto, which is is right at the end of the street the hotel is...

I stayed at the hotel at the end of March together with my son, my daughter and her husband all of us experienced world travellers. We think the critical comments made by some previous guests at the hotel are unjustified. We found the rooms clean and adequate, the staff most courteous and helpful, the breakfast reasonable and the cost comparable...

In seeking an economical hotel near to the cruise ship terminal, Hotel Florida was a perfect choice. Our room was clean, with its own bathroom. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, including holding our luggage the next day after we had checked out. Hotel Florida's continental breakfast is very European, and very delicious. Fresh croissants, jam, juice, cappuccino,...

Very near to the Saint Lucia train station, just around the corner once you turn left after leaving the train station, which is a plus that you don't have to tackle any bridges if you are lugging your luggage. Room was clean and breakfast was adequete. I would say that it is value for your money.

We stayed at the Floida from the 1st to the 4th of July and it was a pleasant stay. I recommend this hotel for its position close to St Lucia station and Piazzale Roma(about 10mins) on foot, and only 2 bridges to tackle.. They told when the new bridge will open it will be one by then, direct from P....

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
