Just finished a magical 4 night stay at this former monastery next to the Santa Lucia Church. Every morning we were gently awakened by the church bells. Our view overlooking the hotel's beautiful garden also took in many of the ancient pastel colored buildings. The hotel management and staff deserve particular mention. At every turn they went out of their...

Stayed here 3 nights before departing for our cruise. Hotel was easy to find and very charming. Staff was great breakfast was good. Can't complain when it saves you money. Perfect location to jump on and off the train or city bus. Easy walk for port. We'd definitely stay here again. Thank you hotel staff for an awesome stay.

We stayed in this hotel last week for two nights. The positives are about the location, very close to the train station and water bus station. The negatives are a few. The room we stayed is on the third floor, but there is no elevator. The hotel breakfast is substandard with limited choices and atmosphere of the place. The room...

Thank you for your review. However we do not have any third floor, but the higher floor we've got is the second one. If someone cannot climb the stairs for any reason, we can esily and with pleasure reserve a room on the ground floor (obviously if we are well informed in advance about it...). We also have a very...

This hotel has lots of character, being it was a former monastery. My room was on the top floor with views looking out onto the "side street" and other buildings. Being on the top floor was a bit stuffy but the windows open to let in fresh air (at night can be a bit loud with people). Room was normal...

Visited hotel in April. Location is close to train station so if you come in by train location is good. However you are far away from major attractions. ISSUES: No kleenex tissue paper. VERY POOR breakfast. Our room had a step to go into bathroom which can be problem at night. No do not disturb signs. Old fashion keys so...

We are located close to the train station and car/bus/parking terminals (that's the reason why people book the hotels in our area...) and anyway only 15 minutes far from the center (Rialto bridge) by waterbus. We don't want to say a word on the "unbelievable" tissue-issue nor the “lack” of “do not disturb signs", that "ruined" your stay (:-)))), but...

This hotel was everything all the other reviews said it was- good location, friendly staff, nice rooms , breakfast and a garden!!! However, there is no elevator. If you are traveling with someone handicapped or who doesn't do stairs - this is not the hotel for you! Otherwise it's great.

We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. The room was very poor with a tub. We have asked to change it and moved to a nicer room. We have booked again the last night at the end of our trip but the room we have got was poor again and they didn't want to change it. ectually, one of...

This gentleman (with a very aggressive attitude...) booked his first stay with us in a standard room, but at his arrival for some unknown reasons (maybe because he preferred a shower instead of a bath tub...) he asked to be moved in another room. Since we had the chance and still few rooms available, without any problem and with pleasure...

The hotel is within walking distant from st lucia train station. You walk out the station , turn left and after you pass the first bridge, it is on the left side a small alley between the shop, you should see the sign for a Chinese restaurant. The room is clean and good size, but some has no shower and...

This hotel is quaint and charming. It used to be a monastery and still has many elements from the original place. However, it has been modernized and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Grounds and breakfast great. Staff is very helpful. Venice is a special place and the hotel makes the visit even more appealing. The location is easy to...

We've visited Venice many times over the years and wouldn't stay anywhere else. We love it because all the staff are incredibly kind, friendly and helpful: it's so convenient for arrival by train, or bus from either of the airports: it's also good for vaporetto stops, so you can get anywhere in Venice really easily. We also love the lounge...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
