Enjoyed this hotel, the room was big and the bathroom was enormous for European standards, close location to train and bus stations. Would definitely stay here again. Staff were very helpful and courteous.

This hotel is well positioned near the train station and grand canal. We travelled here on our honeymoon and the staff are fantastic. We were given a beautiful room which was spacious and very large. The desk staff couldn't be more helpful with giving information on Venice and how to get to the cruise terminal after our stay here. If... More

Good location, very close to train station. The hotel is not modern, however the size of rooms are bigger than european standards, clean and not in a noisy area. The staff is very friendly, breakfast is included and exceeded our expectations. I recommend it.

First I hesitated to review again as I have written so many and I was a bit traumatised by the vastly more expensive period I'd chosen to visit in. Also,on the last two nights of our four night visit I was kept awake by the inconsiderate person in the room above constantly walking over and back on the tiled floor... More

This was our first visit to Venice and we were a little concerned about how to get around the place and we had to find a location for the start of a guided tour booked the next day. On arrival at the hotel the man at reception was very friendly and helpful telling us the best way to get around... More

After several Airb&b stays and basic hotels I was so happy to stay here. Location is perfect; down a quiet side alley off a business street and a five minute walk to the train station. The staff are so friendly. Great lobby ambience and room decor. Sizable breakfast included and working wifi. And great patio gardens! It was a lovely... More

This hotel is one of the best in Venice. It's my very favorite one and I'm always happy to go back to there. It's built in an old monastery, and one can feel this history, it feels like being a real good spot there. The rooms have got a pinch of of that, but also a real good italian groove... More

Our room was simply charming and much larger than most European hotels that we have experienced. The location could not have been better, being only a few blocks from the train station...very important when you are walking and dealing with luggage!

Having stayed here many years ago we were delighted to find that it has lost none of its welcoming ambience. All the staff were great and the garden is a bonus. Breakfast perhaps a bit limited but made for a decent start to the day.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
