My husband and I had a bedroom with an en suite bathroom. We didn't see the other rooms but they seem to share a bathroom in the hallway that has a tub with a handheld shower wand. The shower water pressure in our bathroom was low-ish but it worked. The windows did not have blinds but also faced the setting...

We traveled to Italy for our honeymoon and started our trip in Venice. After searching and searching for b&b's in Venice, I found this gem. You can't beat the price, especially for Venice. Our room had a private bathroom and an in-room air conditioner. Maria was wonderful. We do not speak Italian but found it was easy to communicate with...

Our experience didn't start very well as the indications received on how to reach the house wasn't good: the vaporetto station we needed to stop was closed so we had to get out a bit further. Be sure to print out the instructions for getting there with a detailed map... After walking around to find the B&B, we finally arrived...

This is a great place for those who like the idea of staying in a real Venetian's apartment, in one of her guest bedrooms, and saving oodles of money on their lodgings while eating out and spending time in costly Venice. Our host Maria, also a schoolteacher, was an unobtrusive but very friendly and attentive host, and this is her...

I stayed at the b&b for 3 nights, and it was great. It can be a bit tricky to find the first time you arrive, but it's in Venice, after all! Once you get used to your surroundings, the b&b is well located to walk and to take the vaporetto around the city. It is a clean, nice space with...

I stayed at La Madonetta for eight nights and agree with the praise of others. Maria takes beaming pride in her breakfast and hosts a spotless, secure and charming space for travelers and language students of all ages. Yes, there's a little noise, but that's normal for Venice in the summer with windows wide open. The location is ideal. To...

Maria runs a great B & B you are right at home here. Very centrally located with many great restaurants within minutes canal view, great breakfast and marvelous host. 2nd floor short walk through beautiful garden, quiet area. She leaves you each morning with a great breakfast. She is a busy lady but takes great pride in making sure her...

Maria is lovely and very professional. She cooked her own bread and jam and the breakfast were great. She gives you the key and then you are like at home. The flat is very clean. Definitiely recommended. The only minus was some drunken guys shouting near the windows during the night but nothing to do with La Madonetta...

La Madonetta is a very nice B&B right in the centre of Venice. It is a shared apartment, and the host, Maria, was very friendly and welcoming. Before I continue though, a word of warning: it is not easy to find! There is a photo attached of the entrance so that you know what you're looking for. The apartment is...

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.

“The rooms are on the 2nd floor, no lift. The best part is the location, which is near a vaporetto stop and and famous attractions and some hidden jems.”
