I walked past Ca dei Polo twice and still had to be directed to it. A nice old fashioned sign outside would be a good idea. Excellent position for train and bus, but quite a distance to walk to get to the Rialto Bridge and then on to San Marco Square. Not having a manned reception area until breakfast is...

Spacious suite on third floor with modern bathroom. Beams and lovely furnishings add character to the room. The owners Francesca and Max are charming. Francesca gave us lots of useful information including restaurants. This BB is perfect if you are joining a cruise and you can take a bus from Marco Polo to Piazza Roma. The hotel is then a...

We stayed at this B&B overnight before embarking on a Cruise in the Med. We had a very, very nice spacious room. The bathroom was large and very well appointed. The room had everything we needed to make it extremely comfortable including a much welcomed air conditioner! Our breakfast was served at the requested time in the cool lounge/ dining...

Close to the bus terminal from the airport and close to the people mover taking you to the ship terminal. Breakfast was good on the terrace as well as in the dining room. The room was small but very accommodating. The bathroom was very nice. Francesca was an excellent host.

Ideally located for piazza Roma and transport links. Lots of restaurants and bars in the vicinity. Traditional building converted to a nice hotel with very pleasant owners and reception staff. Ideal for a city break.

Good location for cruise terrminal. Average room/ suite that needed a few improvements ie stained chairs and bathroom could have been cleaner. Suite is just a average sized room with couch and chairs. Nice breakfast on lovely terrace. But Over priced in my opinion

Dear guest , thank you for your review . Cà dei polo is a very old Palace (1400), obviously in a building so old we have done our best to make spacious rooms. A suite of 27 m² seems a reasonable size. I hope to see you again Sincerely Francesca

We love this place. I visited a couple of years ago and what a little gem this place is. Perfect location as you dont need to go too far carrying luggage (and we had a lot following a cruise). The owners are so lovely, friendly and helpful. A few things changed since our first visit - I was so disappointed...

First of all, like most things in Venice, this place is almost impossible to find. I've added directions from the bus station at the end of this review - use them! The location of this B&B is ideal. Not too far to carry your bags from the airport bus, and close to the water bus which regularly goes up and...

Dear guest I'm very sorry for the elevator . Unfortunately to adjust the elevator we had to order a new piece that we had to wait. I also 10 hours of work I was very tired having to bring up and down with breakfast and lugagges. In our B&B work just Max and me, so we open the reception at...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
