This small B&B hotel has so much potential. It is really difficult to find as no visible signage on or near the front door ... we walked past about 3 times and asked directions from nearby shops and it wasn't until we looked for the street number that we eventually found it. Once you know where it is the convenience...

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Jr Suite overlooking the canal and had an amazing stay. It was super easy to get to from the train station and also away from the busier touristy areas (which is definitely a huge plus once you realize how crazy packed those areas are). The property was very quaint and just perfect for...

My husband and I stayed here for three nights in mid-September. The room was very nice, the bathroom very modern, and the rooftop terrace views at breakfast were spectacular! It is a bit hard to figure out which door leads to the hotel, but if you carefully read the house numbers you will find it. Very handy to walk from...

Good thing we had assistance from the Porter at the train station. Very convenient. I wish I had read the reviews better, when we arrived...no hotel sign, just a little name over a call box. We were let in and assumed someone was coming...we waited and waited...over a half hour, when I noticed an envelope with my name and instructions...

Loved our stay. Nice cozy room, clean, nice bathroom, convenient location to transportation to cruise ships (and tours of the city), which was our case. Beautiful view from terrace! Would highly recommend eating breakfast on the terrace, weather permitting. They were also kind enough to allow us to keep our bags at reception while we toured the city the next...

We found this Bed & Breakfast via--where else--Trip Advisor. We needed a place to stay for two nights at the end of a cruise. We were looking for value, location, charm and modern amenities. We got all four at this small B & B. After leaving our cruise ship, we got on the People Mover, an elevated train from the...

We had 4 nights here and thought it was well-placed and ideal for our needs. The rooms are a good size, well-equipped and quiet, with excellent beds. Breakfast was fairly standard, but was very pleasant especially when taken on the roof terrace. Being close to the bus station meant we didn't have to drag our cases very far, a definite...

Very small clean B&B. Not hard to find, but their sign is small on the side of building. There was never anyone at desk to ask for assistance. Conveniently located near train station, but far from St Marks and Rialto. Will not stay here again.

Location location and location! It may not be easy to find but once you do you realise how well this hotel is positioned! It has no sign so you may need to ask passers by where it is! But then again, this means it is more private than most. Rooms have been recently furbished with good taste and good quality...

Hard to find (no signs). And locked after 5 pm. Once inside, nice rooms and clean, modern bathrooms. Small elevator, so easier to walk up the stairs. Breakfast on the terrace sounded great but filled up fast so we ended up in the living room on the second floor. Limited breakfast is included - yogurt, jams, honey, selection of croissants,...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
