Beautifully located on the canal, we had room 103 which is on the canal, quiet , very clean, organised, cosy, era reflecting hotel close to all amneties even an atm. Staff exceptionally helpful and mutilanguage speaking. Events and tours can be organised very easy. Breakfast with sausage, bacon, eggs, fruits, yoghurt, pastries in a 1700`s ambience is excellent. Rooms equipped...

I stayed in a canal view of the hotel. The room was absolutely stunning, clean, and large. You can hear the gondoliers boat by with their customers and it's very romantic. With the help of Marco, he helped me arrange roses, prosecco, and a gondola tour which ended at the restaurant he recommended. The beauty of this hotel is it...

When we arrived at Hotel Columbina, I was relieved to see that the hotel somehow figured out a way to make their tiny lobby and reception area gracious and elegant. I had not been to Venice before and I feared that the traits that make Venice so wonderfully unique could somehow make hotel accomodations in our price range a little...

We spent two days in a classic double room. By the standards of Venice, the room was large. It was well appointed. A very good breakfast, combination of buffet and table service. Only a five minute walk from St. Marks Square, but on a quiet calle with water access so very convenient for taxis to/from airport and cruise terminal.

For $150 a night, we expected a lot more than what we got. The rooms had no ventilation, which meant there was no air circulating in the room. The AC was turned off and hence we were awake all night because the room had completely over-heated We asked for a fan one evening, which wew were promised and unsurprisingly it...

Only stayed one night pre-cruise but wished we had booked an extra couple of nights, Centrally located and within walking distance to many attractions, We stayed in the Annex and were pleasantly surprised. Had a wonderful breakfast buffet with good selection. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and highly professional. Would definitely return to this hotel.

The hotel is perfect location, rooms are very comofrtable and the breakfast is good! A really nice hotel in Venice. Just had 1 bad experience with a smarmy receptionist, no room to reason with regards to wanting my cash that I needed to eat!! As a security deposit on the mini bar even though I asked him nicely to empty...

We stayed 2 nights in Venice at the Columbina. The location is great. Very near San Marco plaza. The staff was very helpful. Breakfast buffet was plentiful. Bathroom was bigger than other Italian cities. It was warm in late October and the AC had already been turned off. We were able to open windows but the mosquitoes found us!

My husband and I stayed here on our one night in Venice during our honeymoon. A travel agency had booked everything for us, and this hotel did not disappoint. We found the location to be perfect - although you can't really go wrong in Venice since it is so small. The staff were helpful when we needed to find the...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
