We booked this hotel because for our first trip to Venice we wanted to be right on St. Mark's Square. That location gave us good access to the church, allowed us to wake up to the bells, and we were first in line at Doge's Palace the next morning. The staff provided excellent recommendations for eating and drinking in the...

Lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Close to St Marks Square with plenty of cheap restaurants close by. The rooms were clean and comfortable - the only complaint was that although it was March the weather was warm and the heating was on full blast therefore the room was quite hot and stuffy at night. Other than that...

This hotel is exactly what I expected from Venice: classic design, antiques furniture but modern bathrooms. But be aware that rooms are not large what is so typical to this city. Pleasant staff is always ready to help. Tasty and fresh breakfasts.

Exceptional service and lovely rooms which used the traditional style of décor to suit Venice, yet still felt stylish and modern and perfectly clean. Staff were very helpful in providing us with information. The location was perfect for sightseeing, shopping and eating out. We couldn't have asked for a better location. St Mark's square is pretty much at your doorstep!!...

The hotel is within steps of St. Mark's Square. Everyone from the front desk to the wait staff in the dining room were friendly, knowlegeable and accommodating. Breakfast was included and started the day off on the right foot. The room had a balcony to view the street below but had shutters that kept the sound out at night. I...

We arrived at the Hotel Concordia on New Year's Eve and were shown our room immediately. The location, overlooking St. Marks Square, was perfect. In the evening we enjoyed people watching from our balcony. We had 2 rooms that were clean, comfortable and adorable. The bathrooms were a good size and warm. (None of our other hotels in Italy had...

This is a nice hotel for being in Venice, couple steps from Marco Plaza. My teenager loved the location and the French elegant style. I am giving only 4stars because there is a small elevator, to get there you need to use stairs. No worries... the reception will handle your luggage, but you have to use this stair to get...

From the moment we walked up to the entrance of the hotel to the day we left, it was perfect. The hotel is literally next door to the Basilica and the St. Marcs Square so it is a fantastic location if you plan on seeing any of the above mentioned and taking any tours of the city as most tours...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The rich, multicoloured marble and elegant lines of the St. Mark's Basilica brightened by the sunlight, reflecting on the windows of Hotel Concordia, the only hotel in the city of the Doges directly in St. Mark's Square, beside the Neo-classical See of the patriarch of Venice.A building that has been accommodating Italian and foreign visitors to Venice for more than three centuries. The Beggiato family has been expertly running the hotel over three generations, adding its own tradition since the start of the 20th century when Mr. Tiberio Beggiato turned what was a small guesthouse into a renowned hotel. Ever since, the women of the Beggiato family have kept the family tradition alive, proficiently merging customs and innovation, tending to the premises as they tend to their homes. ... more   less
