We stayed two nights this week and found it to be quite pleasant. The location was perfect with several cafes and a pharmacy within the same block. Yes, the rooms are very European and small, but the bed was perfect. My only complaint is that it was too warm in our third floor room and the only way to cool...

Nice hotel, great location and friendly staff. Our stay was hampered because the air conditioning in the room was broken, so at night time we had to open the windows to stop the room getting too stuffy, which then meant we were bitten to shreds by the local bugs. The breakfast was okay, but in all honesty there is much...

We arrived a day late. They helped connect us with our tour group leader. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was delicious. It was several courses that were slow by American standards but I think that is normal in Italy. The landline phone didn't work in the room. The room had a flat screen TV, a comfortable bed, a balcony overlooking...

We have just returned from this hotel, it was love, very clean and tidy all the staff seem very friendly and helpful. The room was perfect, comfortable bed and good size bathroom, no bath in our room though which would have been nice just a shower which was very good. Breakfast was plentiful.. Train station 2 minutes away and a...

This hotel is a quick walk to the train station, shopping and the canal. A perfect place to get around and walk through Venice. The water taxi pick up and drop off is a quick walk also. VERY small bathroom with the scent of sewer...yuk. We had a small room with a view of the church! Breakfast was good and...

We did a 10 day Trafalgar tour of Italy. This hotel was the last of our stay. It was a disappointment after the other hotels we stayed in on this trip. I looked at the pictures of this hotel before our arrival. I was excited to see this hotel in person. Our first disappointment was the room. It was nothing...

It is also a two-minute walk from the most popular ferries, giving you easy access to all of Venice. The hotel is clean, the staff is...

Love this place! Great staff especially the Alessio at the front desk. Actually caught up with him in the Carnival Parade! Breakfast was very good each morning and our room was wonderful. Not sure how the other rooms are but absolutely loved ours! Great view!

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
