Arrived in Venice by train and had no trouble finding the hotel. Just head right out of station and go left across the first bridge on left crossing Canal. There are stairs on this bridge so if your luggage is heavy you may want to get a water taxi eve though it's only a block. Over the bridge and on...

Buongiorno! Thanks a lot for your very kind review, I'm happy you enjoyed your stay with us! You have been booked in a Superior Room overlooking the Grand Canal. This particular room is located in the historical building, which is still not renovated completely. The rooms on the new building (Deluxe rooms) are brand new, with great bathroom, decor and...

The hotel's really located at a prominent location in Venice. It's just a few minutes walk from the Santa Lucia station. The only surprise I received was that my room was located about 200 metres away from the hotel. So it was a hassle to drag my heavy (and big) luggage to the reception area to check out and then...

Buongiorno! Thanks a lot for your very kind review, I'm happy you enjoyed your stay with us! You booked a Classic room, and all the classics are in the annex. I'm sorry you didn't know that, but it should have been wrote in the description. I hope to have the chance to welcome you again here in Venice. Please remember...

Hotel Santa Chiara's location and interior is pretty nice. It is very close to the St.Lucia train station and accessible by car with parking availability which is great, too. But we were a bit unlucky that we have not been able to stay at the hotel. We understood the hotel rooms were under restoration and availability was limited. So they...

Dear Friend, you have not been unlucky!!! You booked a Classic room for 4 people through booking, and all the classic rooms are in the annex (150 meters from the main building). This was clearly wrote in your confirmation and is wrote in all the description of booking. You also have picture of the rooms (your room was #609). The...

Finely decorated, competently run, and great location. After other average quality stays in other cities, the Santa Chiara stands out as the highlight of our 11 night trip. One minor nit: after kindly offering to bring hot water for tea to our room one late night, the clerk did not show in the 1/2 hour before we fell asleep.

Stayed here for one night, pre-cruise. Chose the location very purposefully to avoid having to drag suitcases over the many, many bridges which, though charming, would be a nightmare for my traveling companion who was mobility impaired. We had a deluxe canal view room in the new annex (second floor middle) and.....wow...what a spectacular view of the hustle and bustle...

Buongiorno! There is a misunderstanding here. You booked a classic room, which is in the annex 150 meters from the main building, and which is not the new block of the hotel. We stayed for 3 days (15% reduction!) booking directly with the hotel. We stayed in the "new block" in a room with amazing technology (electrically controlled blinds and curtains, integrated lighting and a "pod" coffee maker: no decaff pods though, so bring your own kettle if you don't want caffeine. The bathroom is also high-tech: separate shower with overhead or...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Santa Chiara is situated in an ancient and more than 500 years old palace facing the Grand Canal. We are in Piazzale Roma (the only driving point of Venice), we are facing Bus and Waterbus stops, we are facing the train station (on the other side of the Grand Canal) and we are very close to the cruise dock. The location is unbeatable!!! And we are the only hotel in Venice with a private parking place (underground, please pay attention, it's not always free!!! Usually the cost is 35 euros per day). If you don't wanna carry your bags up and down the bridges of Venice we are the right choice!!! The new building, a modern and elegant white marble construction, is now open as well!!! The rooms can be in the historical building, in the new construction or in the annex located 150 meters from the main building. You can book the location you prefer by choosing the right room category. The rooms in the main building (historical part) are furnished in Venetian style, and many overlooks the Grand Canal or the water. Every room has air conditioning and heating, telephone, TV, minibar, safe, wifi. Bathrooms are equipped with shower. If you wanna book these rooms you will have to choose the standard or the superior category. Many of these rooms are big enough to accomodate 4 people!!! The rooms in the main building (new part) are a little bit more modern, much bigger and with a bigger bathrooms. These rooms are Deluxe or Deluxe with Grand Canal View. Every room has air conditioning and heating, wifi, minibar, tea and coffee machine, telephone, TV. All the bathrooms (except the single rooms) are equipped with bath and radio. Some with separate bath and walk-in shower. The rooms in the annex are 150 meters from the main building. All of them are very big and all can accomodate 4 people. Every rooms has the standard for the wheelchair! They are equipped with heating and air conditioning, minibar, safe, telephone, TV and wifi. Porterage service is always included and they are connected to the main building by phone. Check-in, check-out and breakfast (when included) are in the main building. Common areas are big, elegant, and the most of them are overlooking the Grand Canal. So you will have the chance to enjoy that view even if your room doesn't!!!
