An amazing hotel all around. The room I had was very spacious with a great bathroom. Clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful from the get go and the breakfast buffet was amazing! Loved the location, too. Right around the corner from bridge of Sighs and St. marks!

We have just returned from 3 nights in Venice. The hotel and staff were lovely, some friendlier than others. Christian in the restaurant was lovely ad really looked after us! Having originally stayed at the Savoia e Jolanda in 2006, during on my first visit to Venice, it was nice to be able to return with the other half in tow. The location of the hotel is stunning, situated on the basin, facing San Giorgio di Maggiore and Sante Maria della Salute. It also benefits from being right in front... More

Value for money and space, there is better to be had in Venice. After returning from a month travelling around Italy with my husband and our 16 year old daughter this was the most disappointing stay of our 8 stops. The Hotel (only 2 of the 8 that I booked through a travel agent) was just too small for the... More

What a horrid experience. Upon arrival I was informed that they only had one of the two rooms I had booked and paid for. they wanted to give me a roll out bed in my brothers room and I refused. The alternate hotel they charged me for was substandard and I could sit on the bed and place my foot... More

My parents stayed at this hotel in October of 2014 and recommended that I stay here on my trip. For the price I didn't argue however when I got to the hotel I realized I didn't book the same type of room that my parents stayed in. They booked a Jr. Suite and I booked just a room, nothing fancy.... More

Our purpose for visiting Venice was for pleasure so we deliberately chose a central hotel I'd been to the city before and chose November as there would be significantly less tourist than at other times of the year. The journey from the airport takes some 90 minutes by public water bus and costs 15 Euros, you can catch an hotel... More

I was welcomed by very nice multi-lingual lady (Ms. Vita) who quickly took care of the check-in. She escorted me to the room which was quite sumptuous compared to my last experience in this city few months ago. It was decorated in typical Venetian style and had a large modern bathroom. The hotel is a stone-throw away from St. Mark's... More

Perfect location: right at the airport water bus (Alilaguna Blue Line) San Zacaria stop. No need to lug luggage up and down the many bridges and over the uneven old narrow streets and alleys in Venice. It is less than 5minutes walk from the Doges Palace & San Marco Basilica. So it's perfect for an after dinner/early morning stroll there... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
