The hotel is located in a good location, right on the canal, and close to good restaurants. The room was clean (I did not have a view unfortunately) and the staff were friendly. Only thing I can complain about is that my room was on the 5th floor and I was unable to connect to the WiFi in my room....

The Hotel was central and easy to find, the room was spacious, clean and tidy, all of the staff appeared to speak English this made our visit there easy. The sun terrace by the water was excellent, we used this to sit and have a glass of wine and watch the boats and the world go by. We would go...

We ended up with a (somewhat wildly wallpapered) small room with a tiny bathroom. We were fortunate enough to have a small attic type window view of the canal, but otherwise, from the three rooms that we booked, my husband and I, my brother, and my parents were not very impressed. It definitely felt like we got stuck in the...

At the other end of the Grand Canal from St Mark Square this was an excellent location. Close to the Ferrovia Station access was execellent for all the places you would want to see but surrounded by good affordable restaurants. The hotel restaurant was good, service excellent but maybe a little pricey at about 90 Euros for two including a...

We were upgraded to a balcony view after being able to view our existing booking and the alternative with a priceless view across the Grand Canal. We walked here from the port after using the people mover mono rail. Room ,Shabby Chic but good facilities. and good restaurant. Staff were either very helpful or shoulder shrugging. This is Italy I...

Stayed here for my 1st trip to Venice. Took the bus (25min) €12 for 2 ppl to the bus terminal of Venice, crossed the bridge on foot and was at the hotel in under 5min walking, a huge plus. Our check in time was 2pm, but the hotel offers a baggage hold free of charge! So off we went to...

The Hotel Principe is conveniently located, well appointed withfriendly staff. Being close to the rail station helped us. The rooms are nice, clean and spacious - the rear of the hotel looks over the main canal so the dining room and outdoor garden are very enjoyable to use. Breakfasts are great and we would stop there again. Ian &Maree

It was my husband's and my first time to Venice - and we loved it! It was a little exhausting getting to the hotel with all our luggage but once we arrived, the staff was pleasant and very helpful. Our room was small and it took a while to get cool but it worked. Great location to walk everywhere and...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
