This was a wonderful place to stay in Venice. Once you turn off the main tourist walkway and go through a covered passageway, you come to a private little square with a dock onto the Grand Canal. Although it is in a convenient location near...More

This is what service is all about. Warm, friendly, customer centered. Loads of small attentions restaurant advices, gifts, help, no hour constraints
It does not hurt that the place is amazingly situated at the very heart of the town in a pure venitian decor.
An excellent stay at Scalon del Doge. Alessandra and her lovely colleague Isabella were very friendly.
This is a perfect place if you are looking to stay off the grid a bit but still centrally in Venice. Hope to come back again!
There were 8 of us (6 adults and 2 children) that stayed here for 3 nights. When we arrived we were greeted by Alessandra and her friendly assistant and was shown around each of the 3 rooms which were impressively decorated, each of them different....More
My wife and I visited Venice for our first wedding anniversary at the end of July and we absolutely loved it. I choose this hotel not only because of the location and the amazing reviews on Trip Advisor but mainly because of the owner, Alessandra....More

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby
shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

Slightly difficult to find. It's down a small lane called Called Remer which is beside Restorante Fiaschettera Toscana Di Busatto. The main street the lane is off is Salizada S. Giovanni Grisostomo. The church on this street has the same name. When you come out of station turn left and you just have to zig zag around the north side of the Grand Canal. If you imagine clock then train station at 10 and hotel at 2. Hope this helps.

From MARCO POLO Venice airport you can take a public boat ALILAGUNA, ORANGE LINE, takes 1 hour and you have to get off at RIALTO STOP or you can take a bus n°5 to Venice Piazzale Roma, bus station, and then water bus n°1 or n°2 and you get off at Rialto stop.
When you get off at RIALTO stop go on the left RIVA DEL CARBON then before bridge turn right and you will find a square with a statue.
From there take a left and cross the bridge (where is a Coin shop), go straight and on your right you will find a church and on your left a restaurant called Fiaschetteria Toscana, after the restaurant take the first on the left Calle della Stua o Scaleter, go straight and you will find a square with a well, on your right there is a big stairs, we are on the second floor.
