My room was beautiful, updated and quite spacious compared to other hotels I have visited in Europe. The staff was very helpful to our group to arrange transportation to the airport on our departure. One thing all of our hotels in Italy did was keep the key when you leave the hotel for dinner, sightseeing, etc. I am not sure...

We got a room with two windows facing the canal...oh wow...the view is awesome! The rooftop terrace on the 5th floor is a fantastic place to take a photograph. Take a camera to the terrace near sunset and expect to get a picture you will never forget! The staff is very friendly. In fact, one the staff members gave us...

The location was very convenient for access from airport and station via vaporetti and to go the the Biennale on foot. Quite close to San Marco but far enough away to avoid the worst of the crowds. Hotel restaurant for breakfast and meals was great but there are lots of other good restaurants nearby. Roof terrace is a great spot...

I was travelling on my own with a tour hence was given a single room. I felt like a nun in a cell. The room was only as wide as the length of a single bed. The vanity basin was in a alcove to your left as you entered. The bathroom was on the right and the door could not...

Very good hotel and we really enjoyed the stay. Since we are vegetarians, the hotel's vegetarian food specially made for us was excellent. We carry good memories and we will cherish the stay. The staff were very courteous and helpful

We arrived at Marco Polo Airport on time and took one of the buses from the airport to Piazza Roma. This is as far as you get on wheels in Venice. From there we took the 4.1 water bus to Arsenale. Our hotel was a a short walk over a bridge (what else). Checking in was friendly and easy. Our...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
