San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

This hotel is really good and so close to St Mark’s Square. The staff are helpful and our room on both occasions we stayed here very comfortable. The bathroom had a hairdrier and good toiletries. There are tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast is a buffet with plenty of

Montecarlo is well located ..! Short walk from Alilaguna Line stop & Piazza San Marco. We were recommended due to large crowds for Venice Carnival to return to Marco Polo Airport from the Rialto stop which was an excellent advise. A constructive comment ...the excellent

Had a great stay at the Montecarlo. Couldn't fault a thing and would recommend to even the most fussy of our friends. The directions from San Marco are easy to follow, including helpful photos, so it was easy to find. Check-in was quick and simple. The complimentary prosecco and

Dear Guest from S. Lucia train station take public waterbus lines 1 or 2 (€7,50 per person) Get off at S. Marco square, walk through the clock tower, turn first right and then second left. Also available private watertaxi rides (80 Euro up to 4 people with one piece of luggage each). As we don't have a private dock, taxi will drop you off as close as possible (80mt away) when tide allows. Best regards

Hi there. We got off of the Norwegian Star and went to San Marco square. We got on the direct transfer with the Alilaguna boat taxi service. It cost us E8 each and E3 for each bag. It took 15 minutes travel time. For 8 people that would be E88 in total. Not sure if you can get a private water taxi cheaper for 8 people with bags. When we left the hotel we took a private taxi to the airport which cost the two of us E120 one way. Reason why was due to the Alilaguna schedule that was going to take 45 to 60 minutes making multiple stops. Hope this helps. Jerry

Take the Water Taxi (vaparetto) from the station and get off at St Marks square. Walk across the square to the clock tower (there are loads of people, just keep going 🙂) - under the clock tower, first alley on the right, and then second alley on the left, the hotel is 100yards on the right. The last alley is very narrow and easy to miss by the way. Enjoy, great hotel and location.
