We booked a hotel room for 3 nights. But after arrival we saw a small disgusting keller where is not possible and not healthy to live. Directly we asked at the reception to change the room. Unfriendly staff told us to come in the morning to see if they can. Also we talked with their Partners from 4* hotel across...

Literally " A stones throw," .from St.Marks Square, this is a ideal place for short stays One has to adjust to the small rooms. The restaurant, the sumptuous breakfast, and the friendly staff, more than makeup for the minor issues.Would look forward for future stays too.

If it wasn't for the location and the updated bathroom, this hotel would get a 3. Location is excellent. Short distance from San Marco. Close to everything. Great. It was so difficult to find. They share a reception desk with another hotel, which is fine. Bathroom was updated with a nice sink and shower. Room itself was super tiny. Barely...

Location is great, literally next door to San Marco square. Once you get off the water bus, and with a little homework on the map, you shouldn't have to pay a porter. They'll take you for a ride. This is a 10-minute walk through the square and a few steps on a small bridge. There's an elevator available inside. The...

The was a wonderful hotel. Location was just about 3 blocks from St Mark's Square and about a 5 min walk from the Realto Bridge, Just a little different in having to go to 1 stop to pick up the room key and another for the actual room, other then that the room was perfect for out needs. The staff...

Rooms small, no room for luggage, spreads (orange & antiquated), needs definite updating, shower in with toilet, hair dryer old (like a vaccum). Would never recommend or stay there again. The hotel ruined our vacation in Venice - definitely not enjoyable for 3 couples (our friends) staying there. Wifi did not work in rooms; only lobby area. Personnel great and...

We had trouble to find this hotel at first. Check-in went quickly. We paid for larger rooms but we still got the small one, you could hardly turned around. Wi-fi was free but it was doing very slow. Breakfast - standard - cheese, salami, yogurt, jam, cereal, eggs. They had nice orange juice in the morning and cofee. Because the...

Took a while to find this place and when we did wasn't really impressed however we got over it. The staff are very friendly. As a whole the hotel really needs updating the shower was in the toilet which really put me off and where the water is hitting the door frame the wood is rotting away. I can't fault...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
