We just stayed a week at this hotel and we were very pleased with the room (Junior Suite) and the service. The breakfast was particularly outstanding: The staff went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we wanted and, in particular, that the buffet was well stocked with fresh delicacies. It did remind us of the...

One big plus is this hotel is located next to the train station. Since All the taxis are boats it was helpful to be able walk to the hotel. The walk to st marks basilica isn't bad bring a map though walking anywhere in Venice is an adventure.

This hotel was perfect for our last few days in Italy. Our room was magnificent, housekeeping great and we had a balcony from which we could see fantastic sunrises. The staff were great, the location perfect and we would definitely stay there again.

This hotel is in a great location close to Pizzale Roma and cruise terminal. It is truly a 5 star hotel and we were able to travel directly to the entrance by water taxi from the airport. The staff were very friendly and our room very comfortable. Good value.

The good things about the hotel - located close to the Train station, Bus & Vaporetto terminus. The room was nice and clean. The problem with the hotel is the service of the staff - room was not ready on time despite they having one hour's notice, staff confirming the porter's availability and then conveniently forgetting it next morning. So...

Great hotel - rooms are quite small but the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!!!! The pillows were soft and cosy. Breakfast was very good as there was a great selection of food and the restaurant is absolutely beautiful.

This is a really good 4* hotel in Venice. Very convenient for the station, the airport buses and the vaporetto stop. Not too far to pull the suitcase when you arrive and only one large bridge to cross. Friendly helpful staff who speak excellent english and a lovely large double room and spotless bathroom with all amenities overlooking the small...

Stayed here in 2010 (yes delayed review). We were driving through Europe so needed a quality hotel, central to Venice and nearby parking. This hotel was just about perfect for our needs. . Parking is easy (read expensive) to sort out in the main parking station which is not more than 10minutes walk away, please just make sure your bags...

We arrived from cruise ship early morning and rooms were not available. Concierge arranged for a group of us to take a complimentary taxi to Murano for a tour of a glass factory and said we would be dropped back at St Mark's square. She gave us maps and showed how to get back to the hotel by which time...

This hotel is very well located, and the staff helpful. The room was clean and functional. If you are planning to travel by bus or train, this hotel is recommended as both these connections are within five minutes walk. Shops and eateries abound in the area.

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
