This was the best B and B of our 10 day trip through Italy. Sabrina and Massimo were terrific hosts. They are friendly, gracious, and had wonderful recommendations for sights and food. When we were lost and confused on our arrival, Sabrina and Massimo were looking for us and waiting at the little bridge! They guided us the rest of...

Sabrina and Massimo were the best thing about Venice! Really! They were so friendly, helpful, witty, and hilarious! By the way, Massimo is from Rome, so if you are heading there after Venice, he can suggest great places to eat and things to see in Rome as well! The hotel itself is in the perfect location, in the dorsoduro neighborhood,...

Peaceful, quiet location in lovely area but still close to the Grand Canal. The room was spacious with large sofa, large bed, table and chairs and full size bathroom. The accommodation was spotless with great hosts who provided excellent personal service. We enjoyed our friendly chats with them over breakfast every morning. If we could make one suggestion it would...

Large (not just by Venetian standards), beautiful rooms with tasteful decor in a great location in the heart of Venice, two minutes from the grand canal and galleria de Accademia and less than 10 minutes walk to San Marco Sq. We stayed at La Chicca for seven nights. We are frequent travelers, and this is one of the most lovely and welcoming B & B's we have stayed in ever. The rooms are large, beautifully appointed, immaculate, and comfortable. The bathroom was spotless and included tub, European shower, and heated towel rack. Our hosts, Sabrina and Massimo, were kind and...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
