Lovely little B&B, great location close to St Marks but in a spot which makes you feel like a local for a few days. Decent clean rooms with air con and friendly service from the owners (in broken English, but that's much better than our Italian!). Sitting on the step outside drinking fizzy wine in the sun was nice and...

Only two rooms in a home (no sign) on a canal the far side of San Marco beyond the tourist zone. Reasonably priced (for Venice). Looking out our bedroom window was so romantic! Our host was very gracious and helped us find our way around this city where it's so easy to get lost.

This was a great B&B it was spotlessly clean and had very lovely and helpful owners. The location is spot on, close to main sights such as St Marks, but far enough away from the tourist hoards for it to feel romantic and relaxing. It was also extemely well priced considering the cost of some accomodation in Venice! There are...

It is located near San Marco, very convinient location. We booked a two-bedroom suite, and it is beyond our expectation. Clean rooms, a large kitchen and a nice view. Georgio, father of Fabio, is a very helpful and warmhearted old man, though his English is not quite good. We had a very good time in Venice, and it is one...

This B&B is perfectly situated, so it is easy to get to all the sites. Giorgio and Renata were very hospitable and always ready to help. The rooms are clean and spacious and worth the cost, not that it is expensive. Would really recommend it to anyone!

The apartment was clean with a full shared kitchen but with our own bathroom, although entry to the bathroom was via a short common passageway. Breakfast is basic but adequate, Fabio snr is most accommodating but struggles with the English language. We bought a 72hour tourist ticket at the first vaporato stop which proved invaluable and we highly recommend this...

We just stayed 4 nights in May 2012. Excellent location in the heart of the city, close to St-Marc, alilaguna stop, vaporetti, but without tourist husstle, pedestrian traffic is local. Large room, private bathroom close on the same floor, large and with a shower. Very, very clean and well maintained building. Very quiet (no more DHL), normal noise and traffic...

My daughter and I stayed two nights at this B&B. We emailed ahead that we would be late arriving. We were graciously greeted by the proprietor and shown to our room. It was modern and clean. The bathroom is just a few steps across the hall. We were quite comfortable. From other reviews, we knew that the location was on...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
