The good experience with the hotel started the moment we pulled up to its canal dock. I'm disabled, and after our flight, I was having trouble disembarking. Almost immediately, without even being asked, two hotel staff came out to help my husband lift me out of the boat. Then, during check-in, they offered us their one fully accessible suite and...

Stayed here for 3 nights, hotel receptionists all lovely and welcoming. The hotel was very small and room too basic and too expensive for what you actually get it's nothing special but the hotel had a charming feeling and clean and breakfast was good! Hotel needs more signs to show where it is as hard to find in the dark, but...

Dear Bob-Meg, It is always a point of view. You booked a room with a special discount on low season rates, but you declare that it was too expensive, downgrading us to “an average 3*” (did you ever see an average Venetian 3*? We doubt). We do thank you for the good points that you highlighted and we do hope...

Truly enjoyed our stay at this beautifully converted former palace. The reception desk people were nice and helpful. The breakfast was very good with fresh fruit. The noise from the dumpster"boats" in the mornings was a bit annoying but at the same time an interesting experience.

I recently stayed in The Aqua Palace in Venice. It was located in between Rialto and San Marco Sq. The staff were helpful and informative. I stayed in a suite on the third floor. The room was large and well decorated. The breakfast room was small but there were no problems getting a seat and there was a good choice...

We stayed here for 6 nights in January. We chose the hotel initially for two reasons: 1. A boat drop off point directly at the hotel, and 2. Positive and recent Trip Advisor reviews. Both of which were as advertised. We had a Junior Suite on the third floor overlooking the canal. The room was very large by European standards....

Booked Aqua Palace (through booking.com) as a surprise for my boyfriends 21st Birthday. I made a request for a bottle of champagne (EUR40) and a chocolate birthday cake (EUR35) to be in our room on arrival. The hotel were great at communicating - sending me the patisseries website and also offering to arrange transfers. All our requests were easily met...

The luxury hotel is perfectly located in the centre of Venice near Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco. It is also located on one of the channels and has its own boat dock/jetty so you can travel there by water taxi too. The standard rooms are a bit small but the ones on the upper floor have a tiny terrace...

Everything about our stay was exactly what we hoped for and more! The room was spacious and decorated amazingly, mini bar fully stocked, big luxurious bathroom and super comfy bed! We had breakfast to our room which was lovely and didn't get charged any extra for the room service. The location was really central to the main shopping area and...

We stayed in room 201 a Junior suite. The room was very nice, large with bedroom, bathroom and lounge. High ceilings, lovely fabrics and had a very romantic feel. The location was perfect close to everything with even St. Marks Square just a couple of minutes away. It even has a canal adjacent with access directly into the hotel. Breakfast...

Lets start with the good... the breakfast, staff and location are fantastic. So if you stay here this won't let you down. The price is a little cheeky for what you get but Venice is not cheap when done well. So what sunk our hearts.. well the hotel has some strange practices... 1) the hotel refuse to provide guests with...

Dear Sir, We do thank you for the time you took to share your experience and we are glad to hear about the positive aspects of your stay. Regarding the points that left you with doubts, we inform you that most of the Venetian hotels, in order to prevent fires, do not allow their guests to use an iron, even...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
