We arrived here as our 1st stop on our honeymoon. It was really easy to find after getting the public water taxi from the airport to San stae. The gentleman on reception was very helpful throughout our stay. He also booked us somewhere to eat as we'd arrived pretty late. We were given a complimentary upgrade as a gift which...

The location of hotels in Venice is important as public transport and hotel transfer are expensive plus aqua alta can create chaos. This hotel worked well! San Stae is 500 meters away and there is only 1 bridge to carry your suitcase over. The hotel gives great easy to follow directions. There is a vaporetto stop and Alilaguna (ferry) at...

This is a lovely hotel situated on the canal. We arrived by rail from Germany and took a water taxi to our hotel. Beware, water taxi is inexpensive, don't book with local boat owners, they are way overpriced! The hotel was very nice, great staff, we loved wandering through all the little streets. At times, we felt a little like...

My wife booked this hotel as a surprise for me, and what a surprise it was. A recently renovated 'palazzo' with private garden and dock for the water taxi, located at only a minute walk of the San Stae vaporetta stop. The rooms are majestic with all the amenities and quality that comes with this type of hotel. The breakfast...

Very good location to explore Venice. The old palazzo is not easy to find but after passing the little garden it really gives you the feeling to be in a different world. Perfectly located at the canale grande and if you are lucky with an amazing view from your room to the canal and the all the scenique old buildings...

Excellent location right on the canal. You can take a water taxi right from the train which will drop you off right next to the hotel. The view out to the water from the small dock is wonderful. When you first walk through the narrow alley it does not look very impressive until you walk into the small courtyard entrance....

The hotel location is good -- right on the grand canal and by the vaporetta station, but St Mark's Square is about 30 minutes by vaporetta, probably much less if you walk, which we didn't. We had room 205 - a deluxe canal view - but I wouldn't consider it "deluxe", more like acceptable. The view overlooked the vaporetta station,...

This hotel was great. However, we walked into a perfume drenched room. It was so bad that we could not sleep and I got a horrible headache. We called down to the main desk and they told us there was a satchel on the door and to put that outside the room. The strong perfume smell went away, but then...

We enjoyed our short visit to venice. We were not give a room with a canal view as we had requested. There were a couple issues with the bathroom and the wifi is not great. What made the trip was the complimentary water taxi to visit the Murano Glass Factory. That was great and I highly suggest taking advantage of...

We arrived by water taxi. Takes about 20 minutes from airport. Best way to come. Staff are very friendly. We stayed in the junior suite. Excellent view of the canal room. 410 The only thing that let it down was the bathrooms. If we came back to Venice we would stay here again

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
