The room was clean just extremely outdated and old. The staff were friendly at the front desk, but someone was not always there, which was hard to get help or get your key to your room sometimes. Wifi is not free but a reasonable price. Great location by Piazzale Roma and the train station and walkable to San Marco which...

I stayed here with my wife and my 3 children aged 8, 4 and 16 months after visiting a Classic car show in Padua. For the remaining 3 days we decided to spend our stay in Venice for the first time. We wasn't expecting much when we booked it, but was expecting at least a nice clean room with a...

The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the train station. We arrived early and were allowed to leave the luggage until check in time. The lady...

We really liked this hotel. Great rate. Quick walk from the train station. Excellent view from our room. The rooms are a bit small but very clean with everything you need. Nice central location. Good breakfast. Helpful staff. What more could you want??

The only good thing about this hotel is the location. Opposite train station, next to bus terminal and minutes away from all that Venice has to offer. Rooms very small tired and run down. We asked to change rooms after first night as we were on the back of hotel facing a brick wall. Bathroom was a converted shower room...

Perfect location to see Venice. Hotel stuff were very nice and let us check in early. The Hotel does not look like much from the outside. But very good on the inside. Loved the whole place. Would stay again.

If you are taking a cruise this is the hotel to stay in. It is a 5 minute walk to the monorail that takes you to the cruise lines. The breakfast is wonderful and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Easy to get to all other attractions from here.

The hotel's location is ideal. We were there for 2 nights before starting our cruise and we walked to the port to our cruise ship. Hotel is also next to the Piazalle Roma which is the central points for many transportation ie car rentals, buses, train, etc. The hotel is also right on the canal and very close to one...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
