We have just got back from 4 days in Venice. The hotel was in a very quiet street just a 2-minute walk from the Grand Canal waterbus stop, and about 15 minutes walk from St Mark's Square - couldn't have been more convenient. Beautiful room with antique furniture and its own very pretty bathroom. Breakfast offered a wide range of...

I can't think of a single bad thing to say about this hotel. The location is excellent, seconds away from the San Samuele vaporetto stop, and not too far on foot from the main sights. The decor is fabulous, beautifully decadent and luxurious. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would very happily stay there again and again.

As usual, difficult to find if walking but when we did arrive (by water taxi) it was a little gem! Although just a door in one of the thousands of alleyways, a ring on the doorbell is all it takes for one of the most attentive staff to welcome you in to this small but bijou guesthouse. Rooms are all...

We stayed for two nights in this beautiful hotel located on a quiet street in a great location. The bed was so comfortable I had a great sleep on both nights. The staff were friendly and there was a 24 hour reception. Breakfast was enjoyable , good selection of cakes, croissants, cereals, jams, fruit etc. I loved this hotel and...

Stayed for 3 nights in December but wish we'd booked for longer. Fantastic location a minute's walk from the San Samuel water bus stop and very close to all the sightseeing areas, Rialto Bridge etc. Stayed in the Deluxe room, very venetian in style and extremely cosy and quiet. Staff very friendly and helpful, nice continental breakfast with plenty of...

My husband and I were visiting Venice from Los Angeles and were thrilled to find this place through TripAdvisor. Ca' Pagan is located close to all we wanted to do, included breakfast and was super clean and quiet. While the room wasn't huge (we chose the smallest room because we never stay in while traveling), it was nicely appointed with...

Stayed here for 3 nights in December. The hotel is lovely. Very venetian in its style. We stayed in the classic double room (the really gold one). The room was nice and clean, not the biggest but we didn't find it a problem. The only downside to the room is there's no shower curtain so you have to either sit...

Lovely hotel, 10 min walk away from major sightseeing. Rooms are good and spacious, gives feeling of old venetian culture, breakfast was preety decent, not lavish, ppl at reception were good and service was nice. Would have appreciated an elevator though which is missing, and also price is quite high 250 euros per night. If you need to come from...

This hotel was wonderful. The location is absolutely perfect - walking distance to everything but in a quieter area not too close to any of the big touristy places. Gorgeous room, comfortable bed, ample minibar. The people who run the hotel couldn't be nicer. I loved Venice and am really glad we stayed here.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
