Hotel is located near Rialto bridge, very nice location however when we got there we were sent to another building called Dolce. this particular building is very close to St. Marks Square and close to many restaurants, our room had a balcoly in front a...More
5 minute walk from Rialto vaparato stop makes toting a suitcase easy. Location is also great for San Marco as its only a 5 minute walk as well. Hotel is small and cozy, but well appointed. Room was very clean. Breakfast was very good and...More
Hotel San Luca has apartments associated with it that are perfect for a family. We stayed in the two bedroom apartment just down the street from the main hotel. For the price the location was fantastic, with easy access to two vaporetto stops, Rialto and...More
Stayed with my wife for three nights over the weekend. Good location but best approached from Rialto as opposed to San Marco as much easier to find. The rooms are ok in size with decent en suites. Staff were very helpful with good interaction and...More
Nice room, very very good mattress for bed. Silent room. Position is perfect. Breakfast good. The bedroom totally new, very clean. The window, where you see san Marco campanile and the passing gondolas is an amazing view. The working stuff very nice and helpful.
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

The best airport to use for Hotel San Luca is Marco Polo Airport. A short walk takes you to the water's edge where you can take a water taxi to Venice which is the very best way to arrive. Usually shared with a few other people, it costs about £60 but you can't beat it for convenience. Depending on the lagoon tides, the taxi drivers will take you to the water gate of your hotel or as close as possible. Alternatively, a vaparetto is available at scheded times. This is the water bus service and takes you to St Mark's Square. You can then find your way to your hotel! You'll need a map!!! This service is regular and much cheaper than a water taxi.
If you fly to Treviso, as we did this year, we easily found our way, by coach to Venice and then took a vaparetto to the Rialto. Not very easy with a suitcase each but perfectly possible. If you're staying in Venice for any length of time, buy a three day vaparetto ticket. You can then hop on and off of these very efficient water buses every day with unlimited travel. Enjoy!
