After reading many of the reviews from fellow Trip Advisor members I took a chance on Hotel San Luca. We stayed in their newer annex, located very near by on a quiet side street. Except for the occasional gondola going by the room in the adjacent canal it was quiet. It's small but clean and simply but adequately furnished. We... More

Very nice hotel as long as interior is considered. The rooms are very classy with lots of goodies packed in ( ac, sat tv, hair drier, bath ammenntities, safe, etc ). Very clean. Very friendly staff. The problems are : the hotel does not have its own pier. the nearest watertaxi/waterbus station (Rialto) is about 10 minutes away. You will have... More

The start of our Italian holiday was Venice. We could not have been recommended a nicer, more charming little hotel like San Luca. The hotel is centrally located in a quite square. The staff were extremely friendly. Breakfasts were top class croissants and pastries and can be taken at your preferred time in your bedroom on in the reception area.... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
