The location is a bit off the beaten path, but that's not a bad thing. It's away from the craziness of the busy streets of Venice. Still, there are plenty of restaurants nearby. We walked to St. Mark's Square (and got lost several times 😒). It's a bit of a walk, but doable. There's also a vaporetta stop in easy... More

Clean and nice small hotel. Located near stop of water communication and about 15 minutes walk from S. Marco. Very peaceful area. Staff very helpful and friendly. Romantic, quiet and climatic place. We got room located just next to the canal - nice experience.

Our room was right on the canal. The place is spotless, and very quiet, as Cannaregio is very much a neighborhood, rather than a tourist hotspot. But San Marco is an easy walk, and access to the various boats, etc to transport you around the city is also very easy. Breakfast is plentiful and lovely. We would most definitely stay... More

We stayed here for the final three days of our Italy vacation and loved every minute of it. We arrived a little later on the first night and was greeted warmly. The people at the front desk were great for recommending good local restaurants to eat at that aren't so touristy. The room was a good size, very clean, and... More

Was here for a romantic getaway. It's tucked away from the main surge of tourists and in Cannaregio. It's a fairly quick walk to St. Mark's with the hopping tourist attractions but has a more authentic feel, at least to us! Make sure you read the directions off the website. I neglected to and had a little trouble finding it... More

We stayed for three nights at this delightful bed and breakfast. It was easy to find and we were made very welcome. The room was bright and clean with good facilities. The breakfast although not extensive was more than enough with freshly made coffees and pastries and more. The property is away from the tourist area but only 15 minutes... More

Great little hotel. Very comfortable and friendly. We arrived late from the airport so Aleksandra emailed instructions on how to find the hotel and how to get in. All very easy. Lovely spot away from the crowds but still easy to find and get to the attractions. Supermarket and bank just around the corner, good choice of excellent local restaurants.... More

My wife and I stayed here for three nights in late August. We arrived by cruise ship to Venice and had an afternoon to explore before our last night on board. We bought a multi-day pass on the Vaporettos and followed our host's instructions for finding the B&B. We took the Vaporetto to the d'Oro stop and walked the few... More

We loved our 2 night stay here. We arrived to a very warm welcome and were given plenty of helpful tips to get us started on exploring this beautiful city. Our room was lovely and looked over the canal. As other reviews say, breakfast is superb, as is the service, and eating outside on the balcony is a real treat.... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
