We stayed here in July and from the very start of booking this B&B Alessandro was fantastic in all correspondence and very helpful with all directions and providing his mobile number to keep in contact for our arrival, with advice on which stop to go to for him to meet us and him bringing us to his gorgeous home. We...

Our party of 4 stayed at Ca' Barba for two nights and can't say enough good things about Alessandro and his accomodations. We stayed in Room 101 and 102 and the rooms were large, clean, modernand nicely decorated. Alessandro was the perfect host and always made sure we were taken care of. We were provided fresh pastries, yogurt and espresso...

From the minute I contacted Alessandro directly to check availability on his B&B he was nothing more than a complete gentleman and extremely helpful. He answered any queries I had about where his accommodation was situated and how long we would be able to book the room for due to a last minute booking and also where it was situated...

This was my first stay on my first solo trip to Italy. I was nervous but Alessandro, Ca' Barba's gracious host, made everything a breeze. He provided doting attention and patient guidance before and after my arrival in Venice. The B&B is conveniently located in a charming location. My room, 101, was large, clean, new, comfortable, air conditioned, and had...

The property itself has been lovingly restored and is in an ideal location--just off the beaten path but still really close to everything. But what really made our stay here perfect was our host, Alessandro. He was so gracious and welcoming from beginning to end, and his tips made our time in Venice much more enjoyable. If we are ever...

I stayed at the Ca' Barba B&B this past May and was very pleased with both my accommodations and the owner's hospitality. Alessandro was charming, warm, friendly and accomodating. One of the first things he did when I arrived was offer me a book called Venice is a Fish. He told me it was a quick read and that it...

Venice, although whimsical, enchanting, and mysterious, is busy and congested. Ca Barba B&B was immaculate, comfortable, and a joy to come back to after a long day of sightseeing. While looking for accommodations in Venice, most hotels and B&B's looked dated and worn out. Ca Barba is brand new, modern, and charming. The rooms couldn't be cleaner and Alessandro could...

A wonderful host with perfect accommodations on a quiet street in a bustling neighborhood: made for an ideal Venice vacation! From the moment I stepped off the vaporetto at the rialto mercato stop, Alessandro was there to guide me. As a solo-traveler in Venice with very little Italian, I was a little apprehensive about roaming the streets, but Alessandro assured...

Ca' Barba B&B was perfect for our stay in Venice. It is in a great location, very easy to get to, close to vaporetto stop, sightseeing, food market & restaurants . We can't say enough about Alessandro the host, from the moment we arrived we were so well looked after. Nothing was a problem to him, from advice on sightseeing,...

We visited Venice with my gf for 3 days and we stopped at Alessandro's B&B which was a great little place hidden from the noise of the streets around, yet very close to everything you wanted to see. It is 100 meters from Gran Canal and about 4 minutes walk to the nearest water tram. The rooms are very nice...

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.

Ca' Barba, a few steps away from Rialto, is quite special. Jacuzzi baths and showers in each bathroom. Vintage, restored furniture. Original 19th Century pictures of Venice.
