San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

We stayed here for 4 nights. On arrival, we were greeted warmly by a member of staff, who showed us to our exceptionally clean and very comfortable rooms. Beds are especially comfortable. The Continental breakfast was very good, with excellent pastries - the best I’ve had. All

This hotel really is the little gem that all of the other reviews talk about. It's in a perfect location, within a couple of minutes walk of both the Rialto bridge and St Mark's Square, yet on a relatively quiet stretch of the back streets. The rooms are spotlessly clean, with

Whilst it seem counter intuitive, St Marks Square is actually nearer the hotel. We walked to the hotel (with our luggage) from the square and it was a lot shorter walk than from Rialto. It only had one small bridge to cross too.

Hi there, how do I get to the hotel from the train station please? TIA!
we are pleased to give you all the information about the easiest way to reach our Rosa Salva Hotel from the Venice Santa Lucia railway station. From the train station Santa Lucia you can find the vaporetto (water bus) stop line 1, fair is 7,50 € per person and per suitcase, after 40/45 minutes ride you will get off at SAN MARCO VALLARESSO boat station, from there you walk for 10 minutes to the hotel: pass under the clock tower (the name of the way is MERCERIA DELL’OROLOGIO) at the end turn un the left (CALLE FIUBERA), cross the bridge and you will find the Rosa Salva Hotel. We remain at your full disposal

You can pre-book an Alilaguna water bus online. This service can take you to St Marks Sq. which is less that 10 minutes walk away. There isn’t a navigable canal that a water taxi can use to get you closer, plus the water taxi will cost you considerably more. Once you are on the island, google maps is an excellent way to find your way around Venice.

After exiting Arrivals at the airport we bought RETURN water bus tickets for the 4 of us (public transport by water) from the kiosk to your left on exiting the doors - you need to ask for the Direct water bus to St Marks Square (still takes about 1 hr 20 mins but quicker than stopping at all the routes). Think it cost about 90 euro but cheaper than your own water taxi who charge per bag as well! The walk isn't too far from here but I would check a map beforehand as the little streets can be confusing. Venice is gorgeous you will love it! Hope this helps :)
