They called me 2 hours before my arrival to let me know that the booking hadn't taken place and that they had overbooking and there was no room left for me and my parents. I had booked the room 5 days before and apparently everything was ok. No matter what caused the inconvenience they could (and should) have called me...

The directions from the website were very clear, and I had no trouble finding my way to the hostel. The hostel is located in an alley with small shops and restaurants. In the day time, it's more suitable for shopping and walking around. It is not far from the rialto bridge so it is possible to cross over without taking...

I am a traveler who can be very satisfied with just a bare minimum, cheap stay...but this place was really difficult to get along with. The place smelled awful through out the entire building. The building was decrepit and worn dawn, carpets moldy and gross, walls peeling, bathroom sink and toilet all falling apart....it was the kind of place you...

Its a backpackers hostel, its cleanless is not the best, actually shower curtains are full of moss. They have a nice terrace and good kitchen. Beds are not so bad. The location is very good (the best of the whole hostel). wifi only works in like a 2square meter common room.

This hostel is located on a great location where you can find nice restaurants. Very close to Rialto. Rooms were ok but does not look that safe. I was in 4 shared room, however on first night i was with two others, but then i was alone for another night. The russian looking staff was very good and helpful. I...

My fellow Americans, this just may be the absolute worst lodging accommodation in this entire garbage continent. The gentleman at the desk refused to give us the A/C remote for our sweltering, dirty, bug infested room with rotting wood. The "3rd bed" was a cot with a sorry excuse for a mattress. There was also no way to complain about...

The only good thing that can be said about this place is the location (2 minutes walk from a bus boat stop). The rooms were dark and dated. The wifi did not work in the rooms, were told to go and sit upstairs in a tiny room to use the wifi and not sit on the couch in reception! Even...

We found this hostel at the last minute and were pleasantly surprised. We received a free upgrade and got a room with a private bath free of charge. We also received a complimentary breakfast of croissants and cappuccino as part of our experience. The location was convenient to shops, restaurants and water transportation. The room was clean and the bed...

Staying in San Polo

Neighbourhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighbourhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
